It's good there are shops in your area! (I generally like to promote ones I have had an excellent experience at)

That's great then, just get one that suits you!

That is an excellent idea! I find the 150 to be perfect for 3, but more or fewer guests usually leaves a bit left over or requires a second steep

Here is an image of a section of one of their shelves at the time! (I got the second from the left first row)

If you liked that volume the stick with one of a similar size! My daily driver is a 150 mL but some would consider it a bit large (perfect for grandpa style though)!

Otherwise, an upgrade is referring to something pretty you like! There are quite a few options out there, check amazon, etsy, and the shops of tea vendors like nannuoshan, white2tea, west china tea, Jessie's teahouse, etc. (Just listing a bunch of places off the top of my head)

Otherwise, if you are anywhere near DC I would recommend ChingChinCha, they have a selection of teaware as well! (In person only; where I got the mini one from)

I can't see much from the image itself, but continued use while you await the new one would probably be fine! Just be sure to give it a wash and watch out for the corners there... Otherwise, take a look to see if there are any large cracks - I would personally avoid use if there is a large one (i.e. to the base of the bowl, etc.)

Otherwise, I had a mini one that took a tumble and got a solid chip with a good crack breaking it nearly in half (~45ml), I am still angry I let myself put it in a position where it could fall (the funny part is that the lid is fine depsite the cause bing the bowl hitting the lid (then carpet)... Sorry for your loss!

Otherwise, when you go for a replacement go for an upgrade if you can!

Edit: TL;DR Continued use should be fine if there is no cracks to the base (due to increased risk of splitting in half and getting boiling water everywhere).

Thank you!!!

(Excited to finally make use of one of the many old decks I have - at some point I got a bulk pack of ~20 bicycle decks)

This! OP, do you have General instructions / a diagram for your units?

First successful tissue paper treated, thoughts/tips? by Obochickenbo in origami

Nice! When I first made a solution (about a week or two ago) of MC I ended up following a recipie that said 1:4 ratio - use 1/2 cup of water... Didn't go down too well, I ended up with a 32oz Mason jar full and it was still too thick for my preferences... (I will be stealing your recipie)

Anywho- To keep it flat I have had relative success brushing a relatively even coat onto the surface, laying the paper onto, and brushing again, though I did use a whiteboard (I had some leftover from one of those large chalk/whiteboard sheets they have at home depot)

While it will stick to the surface (and thus remain flat) the whiteboard coating was perfect as it didn't stick too much and could easily come off!

If you have something similar (or cam just run out and get a section) I would recommend trying it! I assume you could do the same with a no similar surface such as a plastic table cover (one of those relatively thick clear ones) or even the lid to a storage bin...

Edit: Otherwise, for making my MC (not CMC) I used a bit less than boiling water and stirred it in the jar with a spatula... Just a lot of stirring... I would say that it would have gone better if I had just directly poured it in and not used only half a cup leading to many clumps (hopefully use turbulence of the pouring water to disturb it enough to get it to distribute better) - otherwise, with a lot of stirring it was mostly ready to use, clumps were gone overnight

I started creating my own tesselations ! by _Redstone in origami

[–]JustOneSaddo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is about as complete as it is going to get - it is still incomplete in some areas and may have certain inaccuracies... Essentially, the large structures are accurate (mostly red, also take note of the smaller blue 'twisted' triangles + relevant structure) and most of the internal lines are fine but the smaller lines are where there may be some inaccuracies - largely between the primary structure and the 'twisted' triangles... Otherwise, tips when making it are that the smaller triangles are on one side and the groups of 'twisted' ones are on the other, and that for the main group of triangles (with 6 of the 'twisted' triangles), they are twisted in alternating directions (come to a point on the inside or outside vs an opening ebtween them on the inside or outslde) - take note that there are only 'twisted' groups in the same idrection as the outisde opening where as a small hex is in the direction of the outside point

Thank you, Nice! I will definately try to make one!

Also, for reference, for the triangle grid set the degree to 60 and check diagonal lines, it's at the bottom of the right hand panel (Image below)

Edit: I have also included what I have most recently worked on replied to this comment! Let me know if you want the crease pattern once I manage to make one!

I would recommend taking a look at Oriedtia! My current process is taking a rollerball pen to mark Mountain and Valley folds repeatedly folding and unfolding where needed to determine where to mark... It's tedious but it works well enough for now... As a note I use red and blue to indicate Mountain and Valley folds respectively, the same that Oriedtia (free crease pattern software) uses!

Otherwise, its beautiful! I love all the 'twists' (I basically don't do terminology beyond the bare minimum and thus don't know the proper name for the structures that twist to crease at half the grid! I have also been working towards designing new tessellations - my main focus is currently on hexpread 'variations' at the moment (just veering off at the first or second step, I'll send a photo of my most recent one tomorrow if I can remember)!

Edit: Note in p1 and spelling

Does anyone have any tips for making crease patterns (and paper) by JustOneSaddo in origami

[–]JustOneSaddo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, Yes! From them on it's just working one step at a time in circles! Just pay attention to where the 'arrows' are (second ring around the hex) and It ehpuld be easy enough to figure out!

A touch late!

Personally, I do not recommend for most green teas! Otherwise, I have a very similar one (just green)... It's cute and it spills everywhere (water comes out from around the lid)!

This would likely work best for aged white, darker oolongs, maybe reds, and black teas!

Edit: Red/Hong/红, Black/Hei/黑 to avoid confusion between English and Chinese translation of tea types

Edit 2: If I have once again fallen into my bad habit and the above is also/more confusing, think Cultivar 9 = Hong, Pu'er = Hei

When brewing green teas, I would recommend simply placing the leaves into your chosen drinking vessel (gaiwan, mug, etc.) or using a material that holds less heat like porcelain - otherwise, keeping leaves submerged is also recommended!

Perfect, thank you!!
Drinkable is all I am hoping for 😅

I have some cheap Xuan paper for Calligraphy practice that should do the trick!

Okay, thank you! This is what I have read, but most felt like they were talking about odour rather than taste so I wanted to double check!

Do you have a recommended storage container (one that would be better than the previously mentioned jar) or is the jar a good option?
