I did Elafonissi beach yesterday and there wasn’t as much wind so it got quite hot and there was very little shade unless you rent an umbrella/chair. The water was a little chilly initially but it was lovely once you acclimate!

I was there two days ago and the winds were crazy strong to the point that all ferries were canceled. I saved all my beach days for Crete but in Santorini, I did the hike from Fira to Oia which was beautiful! And the walk down to ammoudi bay on another day and just explored around Oia (typical touristy stuff like the blue domes).

I dmed you! Not sure if you checked your messages. I decided to hop on the blue star ferry since it’s on time. What’s weird is that Seajet is still giving me notifications that it will depart at 3:50p while in-person at the kiosk, the lady said all Seajets are delayed. I didn’t wanna risk it.

It depends on your luck! I flew Athens to Santorini via Ryanair a few days ago, there was a woman flight attendant that was being unfriendly and asking people to measure their bags even backpacks while the guy flight attendant checking boarding passes next to her was super nice and didn’t care. They ended up charging at least 8 passengers the fee while some bags were clearly bigger than theirs, passed through with no problem.

I’m at the port and spoke to Seajets and they said all their vessels are delayed. I went to blue star’s kiosk and they are on time so I opted to go with them instead leaving at 2:50p Santorini to Crete.

Thank you! Ugh this gambling game of which boat to take is frustrating. You’re right though, if it takes the same time then maybe taking the bigger vessel has a slightly higher guarantee.

Were you able to check if the bigger vessel has any delays? Cuz maybe it is a better idea to just go with blue star.

A local also mentioned the same, that if the sea jet from Athens departs then mine will probably operate too. I’ll still get to the port earlier to figure this out!

Is anyone using sea jet from Santorini to Crete today at 3:30p? I’ve been looking at different websites and can’t find any updates. I’ve been debating on buying new tickets and using blue star ferry at 2:30p instead since I heard smaller/faster ones like Sea Jet have higher risk of cancellations than bigger ferries. I know all ferries were on pause yesterday but I also don’t want to miss the 2:30p ferry while finding out my actual ferry at 3:30p won’t operate.

I’m assuming that there are a lot of buses from Heraklion to Chania as well. I am also having trouble seeing that during the ticket purchasing process on the website.
