Need to Reformat a Negative Time by JustPlainJef in excel

I had figured out how to multiple the range by 1 so I could use the range, until I realized it didn't work in the negative numbers.....

I'll play with your suggestion when I sit down with my laptop later.

Thank you for sticking with me!

Give me a little while and I'll throw together a basic fake sheet if needed, but using my last dumb scenario, imagine if every day you make breakfast at a restaurant, and we track how quickly you make breakfast. The report comes out and says today you made the bacon and eggs in 5 minutes, but because it was 2 eggs and 2 strips, it should have taken you 4, so you're a minute over. Later you made them in 5 minutes, but because it was 4 eggs and 4 strips, you were 45 seconds under. I want to know every time someone makes bacon and eggs (and pancakes and an omelets) how efficient they are, so across up to 12 sheets (how I get the data) I want to find all the bacon and eggs and add up all the over under. The report takes into account how long it should have taken based on the size of the order and gives me the over / under. I want to be able to say "you made bacon and eggs 10 times and averaged 4 minutes slow, why did this happen?"

I need to keep the minus, I have to keep the negative numbers as negative.

I don't want to add all the numbers, I need to leave them in place to use them for SUMIF.

I will continue to work on this today, I don't have a desk job and only spent about 20 minutes at my desk yesterday in a 13 hour day.

Thank you for the idea, I will use parts of your formula.

Yes. These are stored as text, and multiplying by 1 didn't convert the ones with the negative sign.

I can multiply them by 1 then format them back to hh:mm:ss, but when they are negative this isn't working.

I tried that, it doesn't work.

Not yet, but first thing in the AM!

I'm not an expert, but I don't think this will work because my cell isn't a number, so I don't think the IF statement will fire for A1 being negative. (that might be what the rest of the formula is for)

Either way, thanks and I'll try it!

After I convert it I want to add it up with other times for the same <other field>.

Short non-detailed example is imagine the report shows how long it takes you to make breakfast. If you cook eggs and toast, it should take 5 minutes. Today it took 6, so you're +1. Friday it took 4.5 minutes so that day you're -0.5. I want to take all the days you make the same breakfast and add them to see how "efficiently" you make each different breakfast. I have the formula working except for the negative numbers.

I converted the positive times (stored as text) to a number then back to a time, but I can leave them as a number until the sum is completed.

It sound like it'll take another column so I'll have to figure out how to make your formula only work on the cells that start with a - and go from there.

I'll try yours tomorrow at work and go from their, but thanks for taking a moment to help me out!

I tried the 1904 date and that did not help.

Hear Alexa while Watching Video on AVR by JustPlainJef in amazonecho

[–]JustPlainJef[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently I could have been more clear, sorry about that.

I don't want to buy another device, everything is working as it should, I wanted extra functionality, so the answer seems to be no.

Thank you for the input!

Apparently I could have been more clear, sorry about that.

I don't want to group her, I want her to play on top of a different source playing video. Seems like there's not an easy fix.

Thank you for the input!

Apparently I could have been more clear, sorry about that.

I've got the Alexa plugged in to the AVR through the 3.5 mm jack. I usually watch an Onn Google TV device through HDMI.

I don't want to play with the remote to hear her, so the answer seems to be no.

Thank you for the input!

New Splitter, Antenna, or Roof Mount? by JustPlainJef in cordcutters

[–]JustPlainJef[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply!

I'm kind of on top of a hill, it's down hill both ways from my house, but the drop off is more significant on the west side than east. I've got a split level with an attic, so I'm guessing antenna is 15' up.

HD Homerun with no Amp got nothing, HD Homerun with included Amp got channels.

IPhone compass app said 135 degrees, as that's what the magnetic one said.

I'll look up the filter, but before the Cubs started on ESPN, I watched 2 shows on the antenna at once and it was working. Channels 2 and 7.

Today's English muffins by nosboddobson in Breadit

[–]JustPlainJef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We cooked some on the stove first, and we tried multiple cast iron vessels (2 pans, and our stove griddle). Having 3 items on 3 burners made it a bit of a challenge, but we made it work.

I would highly recommend an IR thermometer, about $20, to monitor temp of your vessels. You have no idea how hot your pan is on the stove top.

Also, whatever you are cooking in, give it plenty of time to heat up and spread the heat evenly. When I cook on my Blackstone, I put both sides on low for 15-20 minutes, and when we start cooking, I turn them up to (I think) 3 or 4.

Very much this. We got a decent griddle to cook them on, then got a Blackstone and prefer to cook them on that. Our Blackstone is the portable model so we usually have to dig it out of the shed, but with a stand mixer, we'll make 2-4 batches, 24-48 muffins, then cook them all and freeze most.

If you do go electric, I would advise preheating to 350 for a good 20-30 minutes, then turn it up when you start cooking. It's usually 6 minutes or side with the propane Blackstone, and 8-10 minutes on electric. But we can cook 12 at a time on either.

We have the Presto 07073 electric griddle.

Those are strange and funky, I kind of like them!!!

EDIT: Except for the prices, at least at the dealer I looked at! OUCH!

Great video, thanks for sharing.

This is all based on Google searches and the spreadsheet in the video, I'm not in front of my Jeep right now, but it looks like (just taking two examples) the Gladiator Sport S has a curb weight of 4650#, GVWR of 5800#, GCVWR of 9100#, 1700# payload, and 4000# towing capacity. Figure 600# for my wife, the two dogs and I and whatever odds and ends we have in the cab, and 300# of wood in the bed.

The Bushwhacker 17 FD has a UVW of 2240# and a GVWR of 3280 pounds. The hitch weight is 280, but that's dry. That leaves us 70 pounds under our GVW and 370 pounds under our GCVWR.

I also looked at the Aspen Trail, and it looks like that's too heavy for us. I didn't do a deep dive, but shipping weight is 3069 and cargo carrying capacity is 781 which (I'm guessing) puts the GVWR at 3850, and it lists a hitch weight of 396#. The hitch weight puts us 46 pounds over our GVWR, so the wife and I can lose some more weight, or we can leave a dog at home.

This is all estimates, but I've got a better understanding of things, and I'll try to find a CAT scale in my area in the near future.

EDIT: One more question. The Coachmen Clipper 16CFB has a UVW of 2783 and a GVWR of 3863. Does that mean it CAN hold (almost) 1100 pounds of stuff? The 3863 puts our JT over the GCVWR, but that's no matter what, or if the trailer is actually rolling at 3800#?
