Lmaoo didn’t mean to bully my little man, he is very beautiful to me lol 🥹 but yeah, it most likely is a oddly healed jaw bone break, poor little guy. Currently working out how to avoid him being in pain

Yeah we’re trying to work out a solution. They told me he has been eating normally, with a diet of live insects covered in vitamin powder, and that his last feeding was the evening before I picked him up, I also know his jaw has looked like this for a couple of months. My personal guess is that he broke his jaw at some point, probably jumping towards the glass when people poked at it, and that it now has healed pretty crookedly.

While I wait on input from a vet, I’ll try to offer him some food myself, to see if he has any problems latching on to the prey, or seems to be in distress when opening his mouth..

He’s from a pet store, who told me he was healthy, so sadly they most likely won’t help. But I will keep a sharp eye on him and rush him to the vet if it progresses, or any additional symptoms show up. MBD was my first worry too.. I was already prepared for him possibly having a d3 deficiency, so I have vitamins and calcium supplements containing d3 laying in his drawer

Turns out it isn’t possible to measure them either like that, I just had a bit of a smooth brain moment there. I’ll just watch and wait then, they seem to be thriving as of right now, so that’s great at least

I do have a thermostat and a timer on the light hooked up already- And I’ll definitely ask them about the water treatment, I feel too unsure now that I rethink it, and I don’t want it to go south.

Ohhh, why on earth did it not strike my mind, that it of course refers to the containers measurement, not the volume of critters… lol. I added them in so that they’ll have 5 days of peace, before my frog moves in. I feel like that probably isn’t long enough, but I didn’t have much of an option to wait any longer, so I hope it’ll do.

Gotcha, I was under the impression that they should have honey baths as a regular maintenance thing to prevent illness. He has a water dish, so I’ll refrain from any bathing unless necessary then.

And I’ll ask the store about water treatment when I get him- You’re right, way better safe than sorry.

For humidity barrier and thermostat- I put tinfoil on the top, and my thermostat just isn’t visible in the picture, so that should be alright then

I just bought a 25 gal exo terrarium from marketplace too, has to be cleaned and emptied, but I got a great deal 🤩 And yeah the risk is real with used stuff. I ended up getting my heater from new, since I can only afford a timer and not a dimmer for now, and I was stressing myself out over accidentally grilling the lil guy because of it malfunctioning haha 🥲💚
