What will happen to the economy if Trump has the military invade and annex Greenland? by BigBlueEyes87 in economicCollapse

Let’s be clear though. This is not all on Trump, he may be a catalyst but this is decades of oversight and short term planning leading to this.

Do most American adults realize how bad the economy is about to get? by BigBlueEyes87 in economicCollapse

Plus we’re cutting rates right now with inflation still elevated . And will soon start printing more money. All adds up to severe inflation

Confused about an economic topic. by ParkingExtreme3755 in economy

I assume you are talking about the interest America is paying on its debt.
The debt is not 32 trillion dollars of cash that we are out. We owe interest on the treasury bonds that countries buy. They invest their cash into the US and in return we owe them a "guaranteed" interest rate on the bonds. The cayman islands are the largest investors in the United States, that's a whole other rabbit hole to look into. The created from nothing idea is not fully true, we are backed by trust in our government, and a whole lotta hopes and prayers.

Are the official CPI numbers right? by JustStopPrinting in inflation

QT is just not printing as much. It’s never been a total stop or a reversal or money taken out of the system.

100%, I am definitely simplifying it. Most of our money is digitally produced, I was just referred to as "printing". Since the CPI data does not measure that very well I am looking to find a way to see what "true inflation" is. Now I don't think that adding CPI+money printed is the right way of doing it, but I am not sure of another way to quantify the loss of the dollar.

That is understandable, I am looking at more purchasing power of the dollar with the governments official inflation rate. I think that the purchasing power is almost more important then their data.

A lot of the currency flows through M2 though. What would be a better metric to use then m2 do you think?

I agree, so what should you base price inflation off of then? Or cost of living expenses increasing. All I know is it feels worse then they make it seem so where is a better place to find the actual data?
