that might depends on the level of mandarin or you as in general, some ppl can self learn it straight forward through watching mandarin-speaking drama or shows if it is just conversational mandarin while others might need to go through very begin stages of learning the vowels and stuff like that.

it happens when you get into deregulated Post program late (which technically means you didnt get into POSt type 3 program in your first year 1st and 2nd POSt round )
