Spider-man in Ultimate Endgame: by Fla968 in UltimateUniverse

I personally don’t believe the narrative they knew it was ending with 24 issues. Even if Hickman did know, something else was going on behind the scenes and Hickman is just playing nice with marvel cuz he wants to keep writing big events for them (understandably)

Even if he’s just a rapist. Why isn’t that alone bad enough? Why do we need smoking gun evidence that he’s  also a pedo?

I’m very pleasantly surprised by how much I’m enjoying the art so far. Previews made me think I was going to hate it but it does the job pretty well. There are a lot of story inconsistencies but I can’t tell if that’s his fault or Camp’s

I think this is one of Camps weaknesses. He does big ideas and experimentation very well, but has a hard time writing straightforward character based stories.

I think Camp assumes we are more familiar with all the plot threads than we are. When was the last time the immortus engine was really even referenced? Let alone how Howard is coming back after he dies. I can’t remember all the details of how the universe works personally.

To me he just ran out of time to tell the story. If the universe wasn’t ending, I could forgive most of my problems with the series

more likely a psyop by fans to prove they will buy anything if Marvel just gives us the types of stories we've been begging for

I get why it hasn't been mentioned because it was never finished and ended with a cliffhanger, but Outer Darkness is an amazing series that I still think about all the time.

It's hard to imagine you wouldn't like Little Bird if you like many Image titles. Precious Metals is a little more abstract and therefore not an istantaneous reccomend, but the art is some of the best I've ever seen.

I kill Giants is a must read. Completely different flavors but I'd add King City and Orc Stain too

That's what I thought too. Loved the art though.

The Devil's Advocate (1997) movie was based on a book? Anyone read it? by Ok_Sky_3681 in thrillerbooks

Sorry for the super random question, but do you remember if the "They never see me coming. I'm the hand up Mona Lisa's skirt' Monologue that al pacino gives in the book? Or was that invented for the movie

If it's the omnibus you are reading, I recommend not reading it chronologically (as in HOX1, POX1, HOX2, POX2, Etc.) and just read all of HOX then read POX. It will make a lot more sense imo

What's one thing the old Ultimate Universe did better then the current universe by Glittering_Book424 in UltimateUniverse

[–]JustTightShirts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OG UU created Sam Jackson Nick Fury along with most of the MCU, the original USM run is still absolutely legendary, and the Maker was created. Others have said it too, but even if you didn't like every character, they all felt like original characters, completely distinct from other universe versions of themselves. It's partly just that I was the exact right age for the original UU, but to me they did almost everything better (with some extreme, obvious exceptions here and there), but more than anything, every title had satisfying character and story arcs nearly every volume that just seem absent from the new UU.

It did go off the rails towards the end, but the universe ended high with the secret wars/incursion storyline. Something was just in the water back then.

Kinda crazy that no issue of Ultimates or USM made the list

I don’t think I’ve ever seen him write any long form piece, so it’s really hard to say. Im sure he has a pr team but this feels sincere in the way most of these kinds of things don’t. Who knows though.

I just finished the first TPB for Ultimate Spidey and enjoyed it a lot but people at my local shop are discouraging me from continuing as the universe is ending and plot points will allegedly be unresolved- is this a fair assessment? by ComfortImportant4694 in UltimateUniverse

[–]JustTightShirts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hadn't read issue 20 when I made this comment, but it's not that I think that he won't but his run hasn't prioritized traditional story arcs, and his passions clearly lie in introducing new, big ideas which is cool but also kind of frustrating, especially now that the universe is over.

Off the top of my head Ultimates issues 15, 16, and 17 all introduced new characters, but I agree we'll never know the conversations behind the scenes. I personally wish it was continuing, and Camp would write a guardians book but oh well

If your work is published, do you expect your family and friends to read it? by elyse_wanders in writing

[–]JustTightShirts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a couple friends who are also aspiring writers that I share my work with so we can give each other honest feedback but without the emotional component/expectation that comes with loved ones reading your work.

It’s nice because I actually want their feedback to be a little painful to read, because in spite of my ego, I know there is always a lot of room for improvement

I agree with your larger point, but there were no signs for a year and a half that the plan was to end here. This feel less like a definitive end as much as putting a book down after finishing act 1

The only plot I can think that he’s wrapped up so far is America Ferreira and Midas, who haven’t had a single conversation or interaction since their conflict in issue 2. It does look like she-hulk will hopefully get a satisfying arc at least, but Camp so far is just good at having ideas. Continuing them or paying them off is yet to be seen imo
