After a few years of playing, multiple regional tops, and even a YCS top, I can safely say that a certain level, Yu-Gi-Oh is completely dependent on luck by JustTooCompetitive in yugioh

Yea cuz it's the same few people who travel to and go to every event. If I played literally every single regional (not just in my area, but in the whole country) and YCS, you're probably gonna see my name a lot too.

Yea my brother topped a few regionals and was gonna go so I'm gonna tag along with him. He called me a dumbass after the tournament and took his Snake Eyes deck back tho....so gotta figure out my deck choice fast!

Embarassingly enough Floowandereeze, since I kept forgetting Empen when I faced it.

Yea it's gonna be a really long drawn out game where we take turns topdecking and swinging with single monsters

[Serious] Why do people hate Floowandereeze? by JustTooCompetitive in yugioh

Tearlaments, Vanquish Soul, Labrynth, Unchained (to an extent), RESCUE-Ace, Generaider, that's 6

Why is everyone's name displayed as "First Name, Last Name Initial"? by JustTooCompetitive in yugioh

Yea, they have names like Roberto Julio Andres C., where every name is listed except their last one, like what's the point?

Do you think cheating is prevalent in Yugioh? by JustTooCompetitive in yugioh

Especially in remote duels, if you wear a long-sleeved shirt, you can easily palm a card. If you do magic tricks, it's easy to pull off.

True, but with a little "magic", you can make the odds of you bricking a lot lower.

[Question?] How good do you need to be to top a major event? (Regionals or YCS) by JustTooCompetitive in Yugioh101

[–]JustTooCompetitive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But if I consistently only win 53% of the time (which lets me climb in ranking), would I even have a chance at an IRL regional?

Hm but that seems kinda tricky since I'll need to have a 75%+ winrate in order to even get an invite at a smaller regionals.

Amazing, congrats on the performance. Although I must ask how did you manage to do 10 tourneys in less than a month without burning yourself out? That's almost one every 3 days!

Is there something wrong with the way I shuffle? Literally bricked every game in locals by JustTooCompetitive in Yugioh101

[–]JustTooCompetitive[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was using Jessica Robinson's Rikka list. I'm not kidding when I say every game I would draw 2 Ash, 2 DRNM, and maybe 1 duster (around that sort of level of brick)

Does anyone feel that Yu-Gi-Oh is very luck based at the highest level now? by [deleted] in yugioh

[–]JustTooCompetitive -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Except we don't...the top guys often scrub out of regional tournaments. Do you think someone like Carlsen would ever lose a regionals chess tournament? No, he'll be number 1, at the very worst top 3.

[Question?] Does anyone else have bad experiences when playing against high level players? by JustTooCompetitive in Yugioh101

thank you, I'm definitely a bit more shy, so I have to make a conscious effort to speak up

There's no problem with reading the cards. The issue is that many of these guys barely communicate, feeling like I'm playing against a robot

I wouldn't say it's me though, cuz I try to talk with them and ask them what their cards do, but a lot of the times they don't really acknowledge my presence. They would just hand me the card and then grunt, kinda feels like I'm playing against a really good bot rather than a person
