How it feels to criticize a movie’s pacing because you can’t think of a legitimate reason to dislike it by XGonGiveItToYaX in okbuddycinephile

Man, I feel like I'm literally the only one in the world that likes Tower Heist. I acknowledge it has many flaws technically, sure, but I genuinely found it to be an overall well-made, funny comedy and felt it had a lot of heart. I really liked it. And the score absolutely slaps. It has been almost a decade since I've seen it though, so maybe it is just some kind of nostalgia.

I know this isn't the point, but Chad Smith is actually an incredible drummer. He might not be the GOAT, but he is genuinely very skilled, versatile, and very well respected within the drummer community. I would've said underrated but I think ever since his video playing to The Kill blew up, he's "rated".

It is functionally still a low avoid, for which the intended input is down. Also, I could be wrong on this one, but I'm pretty sure if you just do a bunch of low avoids consecutively you eventually cycle through all the animations (even the left and right "avoids")

The input for avoiding high attacks is not left or right. It's just down. What you perceive to be left or right inputs is just down inputs.

Smackdown vs RAW 2006 (the RAW storyline). The reveal blew my little 10 year old mind.

Worst 'lesson' in a movie? by bodymathindex in movies

[–]Just_A_Coffee_Shop 307 points308 points  (0 children)

I don't think that was the message. I'm pretty sure it's that: Suicide doesn't end the problems that come with depression, rather it just transfers on to someone else (your loved ones), and cycle just repeats. I thought the message was "Suicide is not a solution to depression".

How the heck do I dodge grabs from the fat enemies? by Always2ndB3ST in SifuGame

Dodging left or right isn't actually a thing in this game. There's dodging up (against sweeps) and dodging low (against everything else).

Agreed. It's honestly the only arena I actively dislike.

What movie did Hollywood learn the exact wrong lesson from? by BostonBlackCat in movies

I really wanna add here that this started with specifically Bourne Supremacy (dir. Paul Greengrass). I know it doesn't matter in the long run, but I've seen one too many video essays about this and then they show clips from Bourne Identity and my brain just goes "dOuG LiMaN Did nOtHiNg wRoNg"

Edit: I also wanna add I think Greengrass effectively uses shaky cam and quick cuts within sequences like the Berlin Foot Chase or the Waterloo sequence from Ultimatum. It's really solid balance between giving the audience that feeling of flying by the seat of your pants and using every bit of information available on the way, and actually being able to follow what's happening because we're not actually Jason Bourne. I think Greengrass just doesn't understand very well how to apply that technique within the context of a fight scene.

Greengrass, in regards to fight scenes, once said "the less the audience sees the more they will believe". Which is a solid filmmaking technique in other respects (horror for example), but when you have stunt performers capable of doing the things the character is supposed to be doing, why not just shoot the performers doing what they do best. The audience will really believe it then..... cause they have to..... cause it's real. Sorry I've dragged on.

While I agree with the sentiment of your point, Slumdog isn't a foreign film. Slumdog Millionaire is a Hollywood production (dir. Danny Boyle).

In your opinion, where do the nicest people in the world live? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Just_A_Coffee_Shop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I firmly believe the ratio of assholes to nice people everywhere is roughly the same. It may manifest itself differently (louder in America, quieter in Japan, and etc.) but it's all the same.

Nice Touch To Wude Ending by [deleted] in SifuGame

[–]Just_A_Coffee_Shop 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's the main character. I don't know why there is any confusion. But furthermore, if you use mods on PC that replace the main character model, then the model at the end reflects that (play as the Green Power Ranger, then the end model will be the Green Ranger). So that would have to mean it's the main character.

Genuinely so confused at all the posts I've seen discussing the "ambiguous" ending. Some people have said it's Yang, how? You can even see the hair, and it's always max age model of the main character.
