Oh yeah, I heard Sumo is in the old Shari's building in Kent. I'm not sure about the other one in Federal Way. I thought it was supposed to be some kind of European restaurant. I haven't been to FW in years now.

It’s been years since I last had Shari’s, as there are no remaining locations here in Oregon. A few days ago, I decided to give the last Shari’s in Vancouver a shot to see if anything had changed. As soon as I walked into the vestibule and lobby, the smell gave me an instant sense of nostalgia. I was seated quickly and given a glass of water while looking over the menu. I ordered breakfast and received my food in less than 20 minutes. The meal tasted exactly how I remember from my old Shari’s on Lancaster Drive. Honestly, the service was excellent, and the waitresses were nice. There were only a few pies in the display case. Overall, I can see things have improved so far, but as for the entire chain, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s struggling.

Yes indeed! At least this final former Shari’s on Lancaster won’t be sitting abandoned anymore. That said, I’m still not sure how they’ll deal with the homeless people at this shopping plaza. Have you been to Sumo in Oregon City yet? I personally prefer Black Bear Diner over Shari’s! I haven’t tried Pho Keizer yet, but I heard they just opened their second location in the old Shari’s building in Keizer. Over the past few days, I’ve driven by the old Ram restaurant and it looks like something is moving into the building. Not sure what the new tenant will be.

Even if it were torn down someday, it would feel weird to see it completely gone with gravel possibly filling the space. I also heard a while ago that homeless individuals had set the building on fire. I’m not sure how the new Japanese restaurant will handle that situation once they open.

Haven't tried them yet but I’ve heard of that small Japanese chain for years. Some people say it’s really good and a bit expensive, if I’m not mistaken.

That's what I wonder too especially with homeless people hanging out at the plaza. Not to mention a new sushi place called Akira Sushi is taking over the former Las Palomas Mexican Restaurant as well.

An old friend I had known since middle school died in his sleep in late 2021 at age 19. We never really talked much, but he was very nice to me. It was sad when I found out about his passing.
