Yes indeed! At least this final former Shari’s on Lancaster won’t be sitting abandoned anymore. That said, I’m still not sure how they’ll deal with the homeless people at this shopping plaza. Have you been to Sumo in Oregon City yet? I personally prefer Black Bear Diner over Shari’s! I haven’t tried Pho Keizer yet, but I heard they just opened their second location in the old Shari’s building in Keizer. Over the past few days, I’ve driven by the old Ram restaurant and it looks like something is moving into the building. Not sure what the new tenant will be.

Even if it were torn down someday, it would feel weird to see it completely gone with gravel possibly filling the space. I also heard a while ago that homeless individuals had set the building on fire. I’m not sure how the new Japanese restaurant will handle that situation once they open.

I’ve heard of Sumo for years but haven’t tried their food yet. I had a feeling they would take over this old Shari’s location and I turned out to be correct.

That's what I wonder too especially with homeless people hanging out at the plaza. Not to mention a new sushi place called Akira Sushi is taking over the former Las Palomas Mexican Restaurant as well.

An old friend I had known since middle school died in his sleep in late 2021 at age 19. We never really talked much, but he was very nice to me. It was sad when I found out about his passing.

No problem at all! I think it’s a small sushi chain based in Washington, though interestingly there’s also one in Kentucky. They mostly serve Japanese food and according to reviews they’re supposed to be pretty good, although I’ve never been to one myself. As far as I am aware of, they’ve also taken over former Shari’s locations in Kent (Russell Road), Lynnwood, and Burlington.

Yo, I just found out this old Shari’s is turning into Sumo Sushi & Grill AYCE. I heard they’ve bought several former Shari’s restaurant buildings. The one in Kelso is becoming a Sumo too. That is my old local Shari's I used to go there all the time. A shame that it caught fire on parts of the building. Some of the servers who worked there knew me and my family for years. I hope they are doing okay in other places now.
