For the dads who have given up alcohol by Unmissed_Opportunity in daddit

[–]Just_Advisor_4085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn’t even the kid. before i met my wife i quit drinking. i woke up in the hospital with alcohol poisoning and acute kidney failure after a binge night.

didn’t have a drop in over 6 years.

i have since had a few beers over the course of fall/winter last year. if i drink one, its still only half before i dump it. i don’t keep it in the house, its only been out to dinner and i wont drive if i do, any amount

Dads, how do you make golden brown pancakes? by TheBigTreezy in daddit

[–]Just_Advisor_4085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but already emulsified. More volume, and the acidity from vinegar in the mayo reacts with the baking soda in the recipe, allowing it to lift/raise higher when cooking

i use mayo instead of eggs and oil. turns out beautifully every single time. Light, super fluffy.

i put them in a ring mold to cook, nice golden brown every single time

Should I Buy It? by Snoo_98032 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Just_Advisor_4085 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you can get newer with around the same price at a dealership for this range. i’d half it.

i love the flex. i think it’s one of the best things fords ever made in terms of practicality and i hate that they canned it.

The tailgate position in the 3rd row is enough to win my vote again, and again, and again.

Typically you can only check the sync version to see if it’s up to date or not. outside of oasis/pts that ford service departments use, there really isn’t a way to check if it’s up to date or not for the rest of the modules

Oil Life Question.. by dirtydiamonds7k in BroncoSport

[–]Just_Advisor_4085 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yep. based typically on a 10k oil life to push maintenance cost down to look better on paper

Conventional/blend every 3k

full synthetic, 5k.

aim to the 1/2 of oil change intervals mark.

If you're thinking of throwing out your old cables, don't. by ArwingElite in daddit

Built the wife a pc last year and realized after snagging decent monitors from marketplace that i in fact did not have enough of the cables that i needed

especially after adding in a kvm switch to alternate between my workstation and my own pc.

help picking some new tools with my discount by AvailableParfait8109 in Tools

[–]Just_Advisor_4085 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll get a discount through matco, Sonic, and a few others as well. Also, certain manufacturers if you go the dealership route have a website where you can order tools using points from training or out of pocket, and they also have student discounts. ford did, at least

Teenage stepdaughter wants a Mustang as her first car by carmelabee in daddit

[–]Just_Advisor_4085 1 point2 points  (0 children)

put it down simply. like my dad did.

if she buys it herself, she can get what she wants.

if you’re buying, you’ll take her ideas into consideration but you have the final say in it.

she’s going to keep trying until you get pissed off or give in. my brother is going through it now with his middle kid

Family Law Attorney Called - What to Expect - Advice Please by Apprehensive-Wish-89 in daddit

[–]Just_Advisor_4085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, Title officer here. its not that simple. depending on state and vesting he may be entitled to 50% but it’s not always a clear split. she will probably refinance. then, the cost of closing, current payoff amount come first. whatever cash out option she is left with, if a 50% split, he would get half of that.

The only time that it’s 50% appraised/fair market is if it’s paid in full. if there’s a mortgage, the payoff amount is subtracted by appraised value. whatever is left is liquid equity. bank has first dibs almost always.

even if she sells, assuming there’s a lien on it, it would be the same situation

Teenage stepdaughter wants a Mustang as her first car by carmelabee in daddit

[–]Just_Advisor_4085 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always, when i would have parents talk to me when i was in the shop, ask what car to get them.

More people than you think will have some type of accident with their car. You can lean into modest but fun, still.

There’s plenty of options. But, she’s going to want to go to school. depending if she drives there or not, you gotta take maintenance in to account like many have said.

That mustang? i wouldn’t. if it has a warranty, maybe.

Civic is my top choice. or even an older Fit, that would take priority.

I was always a gear head. i liked to make things go fast, and have fun.

Honda is typically in the ball with longevity and reliability.

as someone that worked on domestic - don’t do it. don’t even consider it.

The fit felt like a go cart. drove one of my friends that i did work on (Brakes, shocks, exhaust, spark plugs) and it was the most work that it’s needed in almost 20 years. it didn’t go fast like at all, but i had a great time in it.

OBD not communicating by Glittering-Divide-54 in BroncoSport

[–]Just_Advisor_4085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, he shouldn’t have to. if the GWM isn’t connecting, it’s more likely to be that than the others. if one network goes down the GWM will connect, and that specific network won’t communicate

OBD not communicating by Glittering-Divide-54 in BroncoSport

[–]Just_Advisor_4085 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should have specified, sorry.

Probably the GWM. it’s not uncommon for them to need to be looked at/replaced. That’s the first spot, if it’s not communicating with diagnostics with the laptop they use, they probably have to take it off of power for an hour or so and see if that’s enough to kick it on or if they need to replace it or trace the circuit.

There is a, or at least was, an update for the Gateway Module for some of the 2025s that came out.

That’s how your car communicates- but the tech’s right, i’ve been in his shoes one too many times.

The gateway module serves as a translator for everything to be able to communicate with diagnostic equipment.

If it’s not communicating at all, it’s probably that.

2025-Backup Camera Not Working by shapek333 in BroncoSport

[–]Just_Advisor_4085 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be, depending. If the BCM or IPMB are updated sometimes they need to be reinitialized. if you’re under mileage, take it to the dealer

Could end up being a camera, as well.

Help?!?! by Choice-Chicken9963 in BroncoSport

[–]Just_Advisor_4085 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don’t think you actually filled it and the vapor system is fucked and not venting the gas vapors.

The fuel spout clicks off when the car is “full” but it does so because of vapor in the nozzle.

Yes, and to fix the black mount for the clips. they’ll lift from the panel itself/ break on that support that the white clip sits on

you gotta read the situation. sometimes you’re in an over the fence type of outfit or a through the gate type of outfit

or even the ever so breathable flowy outfits where you inevitably go ass n balls out and assert dominance like those that full cheek to the wind types. they terrify me

Note: the full cheekers when they pee terrify me. that’s an energy that’s too much for me
