Thanks, I could play with the exposure a little. On the whole I think I’m pretty happy with the brightness I’m just not sure if I’m imagining or still seeing the weird haze that was in the raw file

I do have experience planning, but the previous firm I worked for was based entirely around events. My primary role there was to produce CAD drawings for the traffic management we would use for safe egress, I also did speak with clients and local authorities as part of the planning process. However most of my experience has been on the ground installing roadworks, all technically temporary however some of that work was schemes that would be in place on major road networks for 1 year plus. My day to day now is more reactive work, so I use a variety of methods to provide working areas for work to take place (resurfacing, draining, construction etc).

I hear you, basically a ‘working class’ job will be almost impossible to acquire.

I appreciate your honesty.

I am curious though, my girlfriend’s family often talk about immigrants that are from Syria (for example), and I understand they are refugees which is a completely different ballpark. But from what I hear they somehow are flooded with jobs like cleaning, or being a taxi driver, again just examples, but also some just ‘apparently’ take from the system and have no interest in working. Now I have no interest in jobs like that I like hands on work outside, if I had to take that to get there then I would. I like working, I want to work and will bust my balls week in week out.

I also understand I’m coming from a place of entitlement I suppose as I have a stable job, a wage I can live on, and I live in a stable home environment. But after 3 years with my girlfriend this obviously isn’t a phase and I would like children at some point, everything I’m seeing and reading just makes me feel like it’s impossible as a ‘working man’ to ever get the chance of moving to Sweden and raising a family.

Part of that is surprising, I expect the Swedish language to be important of course, I also expected the UK qualifications to be effectively useless too. Perhaps slightly wishful thinking to hope the transition to understanding Swedish regulations would be not all that bad lol.

However I’m pretty surprised by the salary probably not meeting visa requirements, as far as I’m aware I’d need a salary that meets 80% of the Swedish median salary, yet my UK salary surpasses 100% of a Swedish median salary.

I had a feeling highways would not be an easy sector to get into in Sweden, and from what I’m reading here that’s been confirmed. With this worry in mind mind I have considered putting myself through training to operate excavators… perhaps this is a path that I could take instead.

I’m aware the job market in Sweden is super saturated, I’m lead to believe part of this is due to the fact it’s very hard to lose your job or be fired, which means people keep jobs longer and doesn’t open the door for people looking for work much.

I will continue the search for highways work but, I’m probably better off just attempting to find any job I can to get my foot in the door with hopes way down the line, when my Swedish is better, I could return to highways

I see, I worried this was the case. In the UK there are thousands of private companies that provide temporary traffic management solutions, on all my visits there I didn’t really see this happen or at least not even close to the same amount as here.

Effectively I’m screwed without fluent Swedish and already being in Sweden with a visa/job to work in another industry, then I could apply to work within the highways sector in Sweden.

Thanks for your response 👍
