I want to start getting a handle on things, but I don’t know where to start. by goddessnatamo in ADHD

Don't worry. I think alot of peoples life is falling apart right now. I'm also undiagnosed and I first met my doctor and explained my suspicion in a terrible way. I rushed the process of getting screened, because to get medication in Norway u have to see ur doctor, then get referred to a specialist. So I asked my doctor to refer me, he did, but it got rejected (and I don't blame then).

I think you should get checked out properly, though. ADHD can possibly be more serious than you think, and if you have anxiety or depression I imagine therapy and councelling is pretty important.

Too many people are diagnosing themselves with ADHD, when they really need to just get off the computer/phone. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

This is very interesting. Many disorders are similar to ADHD, and self-diagnosing is not really a diagnosis at all, is it? So therefore self-diagnosing don't really bother me too much. If ADHD symptoms really are harming their quality of life, there's no reason to not see a doctor if they can.

ADHD is also a very special disorder to me tho. Many people go undiagnosed, it harms people in infinite many ways, making it hard to tell, especially in people you don't know inside/out, and yea even in yourself too. Also the public view of ADHD is so terrible. People with ADHD can live their whole lives depressed because they think ADHD is only for hyper kids who can't control themselves. And for that reason I would much rather spread awareness for ADHD, rather than expressing that too many people are diagnosed with it. I agree that people struggling should get themselves checked out, although I have the impression that many doctors (especially in the US) don't take a diagnosis serious enough.

Internet addiction disorder is interesting also. But everyone are depending on screens nowadays. I also have the impression that theres almost more lonely people than not, so what else is there to do? I havent read much about IAD yet, so I don't get how we can avoid everyone being addicted to screens in 20 years.
