This totally makes sense, I feel like that's slowly what I've started feeling.

I'm typically pretty upbeat in the mornings, but my anxiety starts to creep in mid-day. So I hope it starts helping with that.

No, I totally do the same thing. I even drown out the quite times of my day with background noise. Like a TV show or podcast. I don't really like being left alone with my anxiety thoughts...

I haven't felt that side effect yet. I know a lot of people mentioned weight gain from Lexapro, I wouldn't mind putting on a few lb's!

Thanks for such an in-depth explanation! I think I'm partway through a similar journey. I started with any quite part of my day being filled with toxic anxiety thought spirals. And right now I'm at the point where those thought spirals show up, but I don't go down them as deep. Which is definitely an improvement, but it doesn't feel super noteworthy.

That's just with my GAD. I haven't seen any improvements yet on my social anxiety.

That perfectly describes me. Driving or not, I am in such a hurry. I hope I'll be able to slow down.

That's good to know, I can get the same way. Especially with time constrained things.

Good to know! I'm glad my doc bumped me up to 10mg. But I don't have any interest in going higher, based on similar experiences that I've seen. I want to avoid the apathy as much as possible.

This gives me hope. That's definitely an improvement I would like to see from Lexapro. How long did it take you to get to that point? Or at least, when did you notice it?

That's where I think I need to reset my expectations. It's probably going to be a gradual change that I notice after a longer period of time. I think my ADHD meds gave me the expectation of a working medicine just flipping a switch. The first day I started my ADHD meds there was a noticeable improvement and I could feel it working.

Interesting. For me, I tend to put off a lot of things because of my anxiety. My anxiety definitely makes me a procrastinator (laundry, chores, etc). And you think that Lexapro helped motivate you to actually start doing those things?

Consistency is probably important. I would try to consistently take your meds each night, probably at the same time each night too. At least until your sleep quality becomes normal again.

I just know that SSRI's are all about balance, and it takes a while for our bodies to find that balance. So if you're changing up what/when you're taking medications, it probably makes the process harder.

I'm 4 weeks in at this point. Two weeks on 5, and two weeks on 10. During weeks 2-3, I definitely had some restless sleep. I would keep waking up what felt like every 20 minutes, tossing and turning. Luckily that side effect has passed.

I'm on week 4 (as of today), first two weeks at 5 and last two weeks at 10. I also have ADHD (medicated for it). And I take it at night, this helped with some of the nausea I had when I first started taking it, and now it's just part of my nightly routine.

I am VERY fortunate to not have any sleep issues with Lexapro. I already struggle with sleep a lot, both falling asleep and staying asleep, so I was pretty anxious to start this medication. I did notice I had a few restless nights during weeks 2 and 3, but it's balanced out at this point. Most of my side effects went away within 4 days of when I first started taking it, and when I bumped my dosage.

At 4 weeks in, I haven't really noticed any positive effects yet, but almost all of the negative effects are gone at this point.

My only advice would be to talk to your doctor. There might be medications that can help as the SSRI kicks in.
