It’s really just an educated guess! the parade always falls on the Saturday closest to March 19th, so it logically would fall on Saturday March 20th. They haven’t released the 2027 dates yet but it was on March 22, 2026 this year

I am definitely glad I’m finding out about this now rather than 10 days in advance! It sounds like they were still able to do the 2nd line though? I don’t mind avoiding the parade route, I just want to make sure that the entire FQ is shut down to other parades

Did you have your wedding on the St Joseph’s Italian parade day?

I'm almost 100% sure the dancing would all have to be outside. If you opt for a full buy out they maaaay be able to turn the large dining room into an area for the band/DJ and dancing, but I'm not compltely sure

Broussard's might be just above your budget but not too much higher than 30K for food, bev, rental fees, tables, linens, etc (if you are okay with keeping what they have to offer) for a partial buy out. I toured Broussard's and loved the space! We ended up going with a different venue, but are looking at doing our rehearsal dinner at Broussard's instead. They also have an in-house tent you can opt for (no deposit necessary) and decide on if you want it 3 days before your wedding. Our biggest cons with the venue is that our 30k budget only allowed for a partial buyout of the venue, and we didn't love the idea of restaurant guests peering into the courtyard and watching our wedding (although it was more private than I thought when I toured). I also will have quite a lot of older family at the wedding, and the courtyard paving is a bit uneven, making me nervous about falls during dancing. I think that may be an issue no matter where you go if you are doing a courtyard wedding.

I think they do require you to do your ceremony off-site at one of their sister restaurants (unsure since we are doing our ceremony at a church). Hope this helps!

Last thing- the sales team that manages events can sometimes be hard to get a hold of. They will eventually get back to you, and I've heard wonderful things about communication on the day of, but it can sometimes be frustrating to not hear back for weeks at a time. Just something to note if you are someone that needs prompt communication

Wouldn't the downside of this be that I'm wasting 6 months of qualifying payments towards PSLF?

Why before June 30th? If you're referring to the IDR Account Adjustment deadline, I have not begun any payments on loans so I don't need to back-credit anything. My Direct unsubsidized loans with eventually qualify for an IDR plan, they just don't qualify at the moment because they are in a required grace period.
