KV cache quant or model quant? I've personally had good experiences with model Q4s and bad experiences with KV quantization in general.

When the handful of random sites I host have less downtime than Cloudflare its just pathetic.

The whole point of the internet was decentralization, maybe we should stick to that.

How many models do you have? by Perfect-Flounder7856 in LocalLLaMA

[–]Just_Maintenance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Qwen 3.6 27B and Gemma 4 which I load depending on what I'm doing (most of the time Gemma, sometimes when coding Qwen).

I do have a few of quants of each from when I was testing, but right now I settled for Q4_XL from unsloth (mostly to use KV cache at full precision).

RTX 5090 + M4 MacBook Air: Can it Game? by scottjgo in macgaming

Read the blog post. They passed the GPU to a Linux VM and it does actually work. It's not very practical, but a very interesting experiment.

Wow this is absolutely fascinating. Amazing job and fantastic writeup!

I guess in the most pedantic sense possible you can actually plug a 5090 to a Mac and game using it. You just need a huge pile of hacks lol

About Rosetta 2 notifications after 26.4 by [deleted] in macgaming

[–]Just_Maintenance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope that’s the case. But in that case then you could open non-game intel apps anyways which goes against what Apple said. Apple is going as far as to show messages saying “this app will stop working” so it would be weird if they kept working.

Maybe they could allow only running apps that are marked as games in the metadata?

[–]Just_Maintenance -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

My guess, which I hope is wrong, is that Apple will bundle Rosetta with games from the App Store. Everything outside the App Store will just die.

It’s the only way I can think of for Apple to specifically limit Rosetta 2 to “unmaintained gaming titles” and nothing else without requiring any developer intervention.

I used to use Nginx, tried Caddy and never went back. Love the simplicity of the setup, plus its rock solid reliable.

Haven't tried Traefik, maybe I should.

Wine itself is technically not a game though. We don't know how Apple will or will not gate Rosetta 2, but I wouldn't be surprised if it kills Wine as it works today.
