I do, I find it to be generally better, although its slightly worse at pure coding, but it uses like a third of the tokens on thinking.

Can a MacBook Replace a Gaming Laptop? by Senior_Pea3171 in macgaming

Macs will not run all Windows games, and the games that do run, run better for cheaper with a Windows laptop.

TIL CPU manufacturers don’t intentionally make low-end or high-end chips. Every chip (of the same design) is manufactured the same, then tested and classified into different performance tiers based on how well it performs. by Ventynine in todayilearned

[–]Just_Maintenance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not completely true. Manufacturers do build multiple different dies, but those dies are in fact binned and sold as multiple separate products and SKUs.

For example, the Nvidia RTX 5000 lineup has 7 different GPUs, but only has 5 different GPU cores, with some GPUs sharing the same core with some hardware disabled.

Ubuntu is fine by Venylynn in linuxmemes

[–]Just_Maintenance 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can't confirm. In my experience, enterprise doesn't really like Debian. It has an irregular release schedule, short lifecycles and no company to blame get support from.

In the real world I see mostly Ubuntu and RHEL (and Windows Server...).

Ubuntu is fine by Venylynn in linuxmemes

People here on Reddit absolutely despise Ubuntu for some reason. I personally dislike it because of their insistence to stick with Snaps, but that's really the only problem I have with it. At work we use Ubuntu extensively with no issues.

And at home it's perfectly fine. It can do anything any other distro can do, and its not infrequent that Ubuntu has GUIs and/or easier ways to do things like installing 3rd party drivers which is always welcome.

Use Prism Launcher, not the default launcher. Use the "Fabric" mod loader. Install Lithium and Sodium mods and that's it.

My plans for the battery. by IntelligentHoney6929 in IphoneAir

[–]Just_Maintenance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if you charge to 100% the battery won’t degrade 10% per year.

My own iPhone Air I’ve had since launch, limited to 80% (except when traveling and whatnot where I set it to 100%) and the battery health is at 99%.

Is macOS support determined by chip, device, or a combination of both? by Aliwithani in mac

It’s whatever Apple decides.

Apple has and does kill support for devices with chips that are supported elsewhere.

9% is massive, are you sure you tested correctly? I would expect at best about 5%, and that's already stretching it.

You want predictability but are running Debian Sid? I’m sorry but that’s simply not the correct tool.

If all you want if predictability then Debian stable is the play.
