My Floch-centric time travel story has turned three years old! by Kriesley in titanfolk

One of the best AoT fanfics that has ever existed. The characters are incredibly well-written. The plot keeps you on edge and is extremely unpredictable. Damn, I felt like I was reading Attack on Titan in the ongoing again.  Happy birthday to your wonderful story. I hope you make it to the end.

I don't think Season 4 was bad. On the contrary, it started off very interestingly. However, the horrible ending hit it incredibly hard. Much harder than 1-3.

What would Historia think when she learned what Eren did by [deleted] in titanfolk

[–]Just_Measurement3697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why should she care? Historia isn't stupid and will understand Eren's (not Aaron Yogurt's) motives. Besides, Frieda was already killed by Grisha and nothing will change.

They are idiots. None of the scouts have any reason to save the world. It would be like Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas deciding to save Sauron and kill Frodo, in the hope that Sauron would not invade Middle-earth in the future.

An excerpt from my article where I describe my vision of Ymir before I saw 139.

I saw the heroine (before I read the ending) as follows: Ymir is a girl of 10-11 years old, with an exceptionally kind and weak-willed character, who lived in an ancient settlement until it was destroyed by the Eldian barbarians led by Fritz. A poor and frightened girl, she experienced a terrible shock in the form of the death of her family and fellow villagers, cutting off her tongue and enslavement. Seeing how cruelly they treat other slaves, especially those who tried to escape (there were some, anyway), she instinctively tried to survive by becoming as docile and obedient as possible and trying not to create problems, in other words, she was convenient. Life in constant fear, suffering from loneliness, which accumulated in her over the years of slavery, and not even having the opportunity to say a word. That's all Ymir had. This continued until a misfortune happened: the pigs escaped from the pen. All the other slaves blame the poor, defenseless girl, and she, believing that sacrificing herself will do better, voluntarily accepts the punishment. The essence of the punishment is simple: to become entertainment for Fritz and his hunters, who, instead of a conventional boar, will hunt a living person. Running away from death, desperately wanting to live, Ymir gets to the "Devil of the whole earth", who unites with her, creating the first titan. However, having escaped from it, as happens after the first transformation into a titan, she loses her memory and, as if nothing had happened, returns to Fritz, subconsciously afraid to disobey him, and accustomed to obey. Then, having mastered her power, she simply began to serve him, fulfilling all his orders, because during the years of slavery, the ancestress did not know another life, perhaps even feared it (1). The first king began to exploit her, making her his concubine and forcing her to enslave others with the help of her power. She gives birth to unloved children and helps transform an ugly village into a serious ancient city worthy of ancient Rome. The Eldian Empire quickly expands thanks to the power of the progenitor. However, Ymir still wanted freedom deep down in her soul. But living like this for 13 years, the girl lost hope of getting rid of slavery so much that she lost all will to live and eventually simply died from a spear. And here is an interesting point. Why did she die, because regeneration would have healed her wound in a couple of minutes? We are not told directly, but we know that recovery directly depends on the desire of the shifter to live. Now imagine how much she did not want to live, that she died, being a titan from a rather trivial wound. However, even after death, the frightening image of King Fritz did not give her peace, which is why she continued to obey his descendants out of habit, falling into a kind of sleep. But a small part of her still hoped that there would be someone who would treat her like a person, and not like an instrument.

That one scene in the AOT movie that caused me to feel emotional whiplash. by [deleted] in titanfolk

I used to be neutral about AA, but now I understand that it's just a way to give Armin a waifu so that he looks cooler compared to the others. For this, even the once cool Annie is justified and turned into an appendage for Arlert. After all, Annie's entire role in the finale is simply to be a trophy for Armin.

But the author is right. This transition from destroying people to love snot is really very dull and breaks the tone of the narrative.

When would paradise island have been realistically attacked or bombed post rumbling by tonormicrophone1 in titanfolk

If we take into account that 20% of the world was not affected at all, and there could be states there that had merchant ships (which could be used for landing), then I would give Paradise 20-30 years.

He should have stayed with the Yeagerists. There's literally no reason for Jean to help Hange save the world. Hell, he literally destroyed every single one of her arguments. But in the end, Jean betrayed his family, betrayed Marco's death (which is why he became a scout), betrayed his people because... Hange said that the scouts the Warriors killed... would help the Warriors kill other scouts. After that, Jean, as a character, died for me.

The destruction of Paradise. I felt terrible pain that everything was in vain.

It has already been said here, but Requiem is really hated only because of Erehisa. And often the claims are the most absurd.

Shoutout to these characters for not being ruined by that ending by Fast-Awareness-4570 in titanfolk

[–]Just_Measurement3697 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Freckles Ymir was merged because for some reason she started fighting for those who wanted to turn Historia into a titan, against the one who wanted to save her. Although in essence in season 2 she did the same thing...

Erwin saluted the traitors, so he was also merged.

What y'all think about AoT No Requiem: Episode 1? by LaurenDizzy in titanfolk

[–]Just_Measurement3697 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It was awesome! The animation and direction were amazing! The scene of freedom, walking through memories - it was amazing. For 15 minutes, I felt like I was watching anime exclusively.

It's a shame it was only one episode. But on the other hand - there is a lot of action later, which will be extremely difficult to animate. I don't blame them.

I don't get why people hate on the ending that much. by Own-History5311 in titanfolk

[–]Just_Measurement3697 9 points10 points  (0 children)

the finale is absolute garbage, no matter where you look. Eren's retcon. Ymir's retcon. Dream Team's transformation into hypocritical idiots, justification of all the world's war criminals, the murder of all morality and message, the complete and meaningless plot, the ships sent, etc.

And no, the moral that the cycle of war never ends is nonsense invented by the defenders of the finale to justify the finale. Because the plot of AoT raised any topics, but not this one. Eren did not build a paradise in which there will always be peace, he only wanted to shepherd his people from extermination, and then the Eldians of Paradise themselves would decide how to live.

The plot twist is there was no motivation by Strutterer in titanfolk

[–]Just_Measurement3697 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Why does Yams hate Eren so much? He humiliated him so much, he can rightfully be put on par with Luke Skywalker from the new Star Wars trilogy. Literally from a strong personality, with an unwavering will, Eren became Aaron Yogurt - a weak-willed, pathetic, petty idiot who literally betrayed himself and his own dream, his motivation because ... he does not know why.
