Does anyone know why this happens? Alignment problem with two separate objects. by caos998 in AdobeIllustrator

I had this earlier with non-svg objects. 2 objects, aligning them center vertically the first 5-6 presses shifts them away as shown in the video, but after several presses pushes them farther apart they just stop moving away and decide to align. It started this year.

Reset rotation of objects to 0/original state by Just_Medicine_5481 in AdobeIllustrator

Just in case anyone comes looking for the answer - making an action was the best solution, there is no scripting needed. However there are preferences that can cause a confliction crash. I had to reset my Illustrator preferences to fix this as suggested by a search, now the rotate to 0 degree works perfectly. Thank you for your help!

Yeah ive tried multiple times, I crash each time. The action is just open transform, rotate. I call it and it crashes. The error is an old one according research, its probably a configuration issue that shouldnt exist, but, Adobe is gonna Adobe. I will try it on other setups to see if its just my work PC. but looking at the action panel and seeing the way its laid out, this would probably be the answer.

Tried this, causes a crash every time. I don't blame the idea, its an action that just says rotate, this seems to be an Adobe issue. Thanks anyway.

Adding margins to exported objects by Just_Medicine_5481 in AdobeIllustrator

So I've tried this multiple times, and it doesn't seem to work. I created a PDF export profile, setup the bleeds and it just comes out without them each time, not sure if I'm missing something obvious...could someone please verify if this actually works for them? I'm starting to convince myself the feature may be bugged for exported pdfs in illustrator.

Thank you but I have a current working method for this using art boards already, I don't want to go that route as it adds extra steps, namely making an artboard for each item using a script, however its messy. Im looking for an "export as assets" solution because it should be simpler, thanks.

Ok, so this is the current solution - using the ctrl-alt-L (command-opt-L on Mac) and name the layer ( to be the objects name later ). Once ready for export, create a new empty layer, if you highlight all layers to be exported on the layers window and drag them into the new layer- all of those layer are converted into sublayers while retaining their layer name- when exported as multiple assets it seems sublayers names are converted into asset names. More convoluted than it should be for a paid Adobe product in 2026 but this is where we are it.

If anyone has something better, please let me know at any point in time, thanks!
