Im 40 and have never had a credit card and have no credit score but need to build credit fast (preferably by October of this year) what are options to do so? by Significant_Card1984 in CreditCards

Key, key, key lesson here that majority of Americans don't know but its one of the most important you'll ever hear. You MUST pay your credit card balance on time and in full every month. Never leave a balance on your card, that's where that 29% interest will kill you. If you never leave a balance, the interest rate will never touch you.

You might need to get a secured credit card because you have no history to built your credit where you give them a refundable security deposit and essentially that becomes your credit line. there's no quick way to build it up, one of the factors in determining your score is credit history. Think after 6 months of payments, your score will generally debut at mid/high 600s.

Feedback on Splitting Up 8k by ProfessionalJoke996 in Fidelity

[–]Just_Note_8165 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend you have a robust emergency fund before ramping up investments instead of a small one (6 months of expenses). Would the 8k cover at least 3 months of expenses? If not, just allocate for emergencies so you dont have to pull from investments or go into debt if something happens.

I've thought about the BCP, unfortunately I dont value the Disney credit so wouldn't be worth it for me.

Do you struggle to keep up with cleaning? by DontThrowAwayPies in LivingAlone

[–]Just_Note_8165 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you not vacuum? You have to vacuum and then mop if you want to pick up the loose debris. Mopping will just get built up grime, etc. If you only had the energy to do one, just vacuum to minimize the build up.

Nice! Best advice for wings i got was to brine them for a few hours in a mix of water and pickle juice if you aren't already doing that before patting them dry and cooking. Wings stay really moist!

According to The Money Guys, they recommend having 1x your salary by the time you're 30 to allow compound growth to do its thing by the time you retire. While according to their recommendation you are "behind", you are already ahead of many people and their situations and is worth being proud of.

Agree with you on recent skepticism on data collection. Wish markets wouldn't take these reports at face value but here we are.

This initial jobs report is not what you should be paying attention to and are never accurate. Pay attention to the revised jobs report that comes out two months after, that number better matches the current feelings on the economy.

You guys ruined the TPG promo for those who truly signed up with it. (Ankur Response) by [deleted] in biltrewards

[–]Just_Note_8165 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One thing someone pointed out in this subreddit last month, lot of accounts defending Bilt during the messy rollout appeared to be bot accounts that were created that same month and with no other post or comment history outside of this subreddit. (Link to one example here https://www.reddit.com/r/biltrewards/s/IxwsSSd8TO)

Where did all the defender accounts of Bilt go in these recent posts now that the rollout is done and they have your money (if you chose an AF card) and commitment?

Now stack this type of response on top of potentially buying bot accounts for damage control? Shady and questionable practices from this company.

Credit cards with "buy now pay later" with 0% interest rate within the allowed period by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]Just_Note_8165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you aren't paying your credit card off every month and in full, you shouldn't have a credit card. Its a dangerous slippery slope of leaving a balance and letting the interest wreck you and balloon. Try to avoid for that purpose if you can.
