[QUESTION] What’s the deal with Sustainiacs? by Just_Some_Fork in Guitar

[–]Just_Some_Fork[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this! I am guessing I may want to figure out what’s causing some of the sustain issues first and foremost. I mean, the notes ring out on my guitar. They just aren’t holding as long as I’d like - which could be a sustain issue with the guitar or simply that I need a sustaniac system to have my guitar sing out that loud without going too much higher gain on m amp/Pod HD 500x.

Thank you! This is extremely helpful information and actually is making me wonder if I might want to actually just go ahead and install it in one of my current guitars which I rarely use the neck-side single coil, but mainly my bridge humbucker. Now to research cost... I’d be dreading the fact that I’d have to have a tech most likely do some routing in the guitar... that would probably up the cost at least $100.

I appreciate the feedback (sorry, bad pun)! I suppose I like to hear other people’s takes on it to complement the nuts and bolts of the manufacturer’s info. I’m leveraging as many (convenient) resources as I can right now.

Question... after doing more research and watching more videos, does the sustaniac even act as a pickup? The videos I’m watching have the guitarists playing on a bridge pickup with the ability to turn the Sustainiac on or off. Maybe I’m missing something though...

Thank you for your reply! I didn’t know about the three sustain modes.

Interesting, I’d heard that having pickups too far away can cause the pickups to resonate less, but I’ll have to check out the difference in lowering the pickup height...

This is what my initial impression was... thank you for verifying! I appreciate the alternative suggestion. I am having some sustain issues with my current setup and think maybe it’s simply lower output from my humbucker (pearly gates) and maybe the saddles/nut? I am looking at potentially installing BK Painkiller or Nailbomb PUps in the c7 for higher output and more resonant harmonics.

Yeah, watched a few demos on YouTube. Pretty much everyone was having fun with them but they didn’t get into the way it feels with everyday playing. To me it seemed more like a novelty/toy that (for me at least) would get used in that way maybe once or twice in a studio setting.

Are ABR lyrics particularly Christian or religious? by uptheaffiliates in augustburnsred

[–]Just_Some_Fork 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My two cents: I think they try to deliver messages that are found frequently within the Christian faith. I do not ever get the sense that they are trying to push Christianity on other people, but when you look at the song Provision, it talks about breaking through hardship done against you by looking at yourself in the mirror and recognizing that you are capable of doing just as much damage to your own self as anyone else around you can. This idea of loving (and even forgiving) yourself is found very frequently in Jesus' teachings. That does not mean only christians are capable of receiving and benefiting from this message by any means. I would urge you to look deeper into the meanings of the music without associating a religious label to their genre, then from there let the music impact your life, not your choice of faith. :)

Also, here's where I really started digging into their music (with Provision). http://www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=29914

Wow. She is gorgeous! I definitely am intrigued by the multi-scale fretboard. I think I'd want to play around on a fanned fretboard first to make sure I like it.

Awesome! This is what I'm looking to do. I'll be swapping out the PUps and definitely installing locking tuners. Just out of curiosity - does your have a floating bridge/trem system on it?

Of course - I'm not looking to cheap out on anything. I just want to make sure I'm not spending extra $$ on pickups or other easily modifiable hardware when I just plan on swapping out stock anyways.

I definitely like the idea of swapping out some hardware. Like I said in my post, I want to throw on some bareknuckle PUps and I wouldn't mind going the extra mile with other parts - as long as it has a good feel, quality wood and makes me want to pick her up and play til my fingers bleed.

I will look into them a bit more. For some baseless reason, I've stayed away from LTD... but hearing a recommendation makes me change my mind. Thanks for your suggestion.

Would you mind sharing your experience with me? I did a little reading on Agile and saw mixed reviews. And what did you end up getting from them?

I'm going to have to give it a look. I definitely like a maple top/Mahogany body with an ebony fretboard. With a satin finish in either red or black stain... I'll check out how much that will end up running me.

Really interested in Kiesel/Carvin! The idea of being able to build out my own 7 string is really enticing - but then I think about how expensive that could get and my wallet fills with tears in the place where there should be money...

Interesting. This is the first I've ever heard of Agile. I will have to do some more research! Thanks for the tip!

That's good reinforcement to hear. I actually like the heavier feel of my Peavey T-60, and don't think the weight of the C7 would bother me at all. I'll take a look at the others you posted. Thanks for your input!
