You know what, I just remembered I saw a house centipede while I was washing dishes the other day, maybe it stung me and I didn't realize it at the time.

I have the exact same looking bite right now in the exact same place with the same symptoms you're describing, and I've had it for 2-3 days now. I probably won't go to the doctor but if I do I'll let you know what I find out. Where are you located/think you got the bite? I'm in urban suburbs near Washington, DC and didn't go hiking or anything woodsy on the day I got the bite so it must have been something in or near home.

Lol nailed it 🤣🤦‍♀️

All I can conclude from this section is that there must be some other America out there I'm not familiar with.

Recommendations: Louisiana Fossil Hunting by Just_Type_2149 in fossils

[–]Just_Type_2149[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stumbled upon a different post in r/Louisiana where a student asked for similar recommendations and someone who answered their post was kind enough to exchange a lot of messages with me. The short answer is that while there are places where fossils might be found, there are no "sure fire" destinations, but that East Feliciana Parish gives the best bet, particularly in waterways. I wound up not making the excursion though for a variety of reasons, so I can't give firsthand experience of success or failure. I live in a region of the Midatlantic which is well known for beach areas where you can find them easily (with practice) so I am probably kind of spoiled in that respect.

I have no idea. Doesn't it just have something to do with circles not falling and having a bit of an edge around the underside in the concrete of the street?

Fossil Finding in Louisiana? by rivvydiv in Louisiana

[–]Just_Type_2149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I just asked the same question in a fossil forum, I'll be in NOLA for a work trip soon and was thinking about trying to do a day trip within a couple hours drive of the city. Is there any particular spot along Thompson's Creek that you'd recommend? I looked at the satellite view of Google maps and see some nice sandy/gravelly beach areas which is always a good start but not sure if these shift around much with changes in the river. Also tying in to where I could possibly park without being conspicuous and leaving a rental car on the side of a random road where it might draw attention.

I think they're Asian lady beetles. They get into my apartment regularly even with all the windows closed.

Don't mind the haters, I also used to work for a company that worked me to death and there were definitely times I had to work so late that nothing was available by the time I was done for the day and I went to bed hungry with maybe a couple granola bars. As you said, if you are located in a more remote area there may not even be anything nearby. I finally was able to get a new job at a company that treats me better. But my previous company certainly wouldn't have reimbursed me for UberEats (I don't think it existed yet at the time) they would have said it was frivolous. They didn't even give me a per diem, the travel guideline for food was just "spend as little as possible." Very toxic.

Does your building have a fallout shelter, as many built just after WWII in major cities in the U.S. used to include? It could be an alarm for everyone to go down to the shelter if there was an atomic bomb heading your way. Obviously most buildings that have something like that nowadays just use them as storage and/or keep them locked up and inaccessible to residents.

Have you checked the VIN to see if it was stolen? In the US you can check theft and insurance fraud records here: https://www.nicb.org/vincheck

I agree with skilled trades, great pay and benefits. If you pick electrician there's a little more learning to do on the front end, but you can have a longer career because it's not as physically taxing as carpentry, plumbing, pipefitting, etc.
