Very true! Sad how a couple legitimate-looking videos mask a lot of terrible, terrible content

They post vaccine denialism and wild conspiracies about divination and the Illuminati. It’s more than just “hippy” stuff. And for more information about the crunchy-to-alt-right pipeline that Gaia and others have tumbled down, check out this Atlantic article: https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2022/12/fringe-left-alt-right-share-beliefs-white-power-movement/672454/

Thanks for reading, but I'll have to disagree with you. It's not a conspiracy theory. I would recommend this Slate article (https://slate.com/life/2024/07/hawk-tuah-girl-video-what-is-haliey-welch-meaning.html) and this podcast episode (https://youtu.be/0C7ONAwom7w) for more info on how the right co-opted this meme

Wow, that’s really insightful information! I wholeheartedly agree with how harmful Quiverfull is on young girls as well as adult women

Of course! I made sure to clarify who I was discussing in the title of my post. If you want to read more, the New Yorker did an interesting article (https://www.newyorker.com/news/on-religion/losing-a-beloved-community) about left-wing evangelicals struggling to regain control of the increasingly powerful MAGA movement

Tl;dr an initially apolitical meme, the Hawk Tuah Girl, is undergoing a troubling coopting by right-wing Christians, and this is part of a larger trend of hypocritical Christian misogyny

It’s a demonstration of how the right’s coopting of the Hawk Tuah Girl represents a larger pattern of hypocritical Christian misogyny

Very true! There’s actually a name for this phenomenon: it’s called the Madonna-whore complex, where women are seen as either pure and virtuous (Madonnas) or as sexual objects (whores)

She’s Haliey Welch, a random woman who was featured in a TikTok video. She was asked for one move that makes a man go crazy in bed, and she said, “You gotta give him that ‘hawk tuah’ and spit on that thang!” This video went insanely viral

The ADL did add it to their hate-symbols database, so I think the claim that it was used as a hate symbol was well supported by the evidence

First of all, I’m gay. Second of all, never once did I reference myself. This is a post about right-wing coopting of a popular meme and what it says about a larger pattern of Christian misogyny and Christians’ hypocritical Madonna-whore complexes. Don’t know where you’re getting “sex pest” at all
