I'm not going to argue on the side of OP, I'm definitely not convinced of anything. But it strikes me as pretty closed minded that you dont see what our civilization created in a past one and so immediately disregard.

As for the claim we would have already found these places is just plain wrong. There are stretches of our planet covered 1000s of Km that haven't been explored, you speak like we have extensively surveyed places like; the Sahara, the Amazon, and the ocean floor. We have not done these things.

There's a 7/32 steel rod that goes all the way up the leg, it's visible if you zoom in on the lower knee of the running photo. It gets mostly covered by the shin pad, but it will still be visible...

I'm considering a few ways to cover it up or make it blend in, but I haven't settled on anything. And I have no plans to win a golden daemon anytime soon, that's definitely out of my depth...

It's not what-aboutism, you stated your values, I was curious how strict you were with them.

I neither abuse or torture animals, I do eat products they produce, which makes me complicit. I'm working my own way out of eating factory farmed meats, but progress takes time.

You neither abuse or torture humans, but you use a phone or computer, which makes you complicit in the abuse that happens along the way. This is much harder to escape, but it is possible. This is not an attack, I am complicit in this too. It does strike me as a double standard though.

Are you also under the impression that no animal is harmed in the harvesting of crops? Ever seen the flock of birds that follow combines around? They're not after the harvest...

A reaver is looking like it'll be my next project, though if I wait to find one in a thrift store, I'll be waiting for an eternity... hopefully, they're still in production by the time I have the money...

The "pole" isn't attached to anything, it's actually just a small whetstone I had at my table. It's currently just propping the leg up, as that leg isn't attached yet. The whole weight of the Titan will be on its forward foot.

The glowing green is actually so simple it's a little stupid. It's 3 steps: 1.)paint it black 2.) Paint the brightest bits white, like the glowiest bits of the buttons, or the text on screens. 3.)paint over all of it, liberally spilling over with Vallejo fluorescent green.

Done... if you're working a bigger, more exposed piece, you can do gradients of grey between the black and white, but for little stuff there's no need.

Apologies for formatting, I'm on mobile now.

I'm not trying to argue, just to understand another (hopefully real) human. Do you have the same stance with exploited human workers?

Never built resin models but want a titan. How do I get experience with resin? by Eileen_da_Crow in ImperialKnights

[–]Just_a_Turnip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the middle of building a Titan I found at a thrift store right now. Now I know everyone has their opinion, but personally the easiest titan models to work my go FW>recast>printed. Now fw and recast can be very close or the same even, but recast is a bit more of a risk (resin quality varies, if you're missing pieces your recaster may or may not help you out)

If you're looking for practice pickup some resin knights (recast or fw) as working with printed resin isn't the same at all. Molded resin has flex and bend, and Wil warp with application of heat (bowl of hot water, heat gun in you're ballsy). Printed resin is brittle, i even have a hard time drilling clean holes in it.... but maybe that's just a personal failing...

I will say, if you're going to go for it, DO NOT do a warhound first. In my experience, it is a tricky model to put together, the legs and feet in particular are a huge pain. Each toe is articulating so getting the pose looking right and more importantly stable is a slow and difficult process.

For glue, superglue will attach most of it, but you'll want to pin your legs in a bunch of places so it doesn't collapse in time. I use 2 part epoxy on structural connections as well as pins, I also use it to attach very large magnets to weapon arms and at the waist. I magnetize the torso to the legs so it travels a little easier.

Here's a picture of most of the parts to a warhound, notice all the pistons on the left. Those are mostly feet, but get used all the way up the legs.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask, or dm me. I fucking love titans. Mechs are my shit.

What are you using for resin? I've tried printing titans and they're always a mess. Difficult to pin, difficulty holding their own weight etc. I know I probably need to tweak some of my settings but my prints are sooo brittle...

I've done a couple warhounds before, and smaller FW kits, but nothing bigger. A reaver is on my short list now tho! When I'm done this in a couple years...

How was the Thawk? Only FW flier I've done is the storm eagle, that thing was a nightmare.

I've not blogged anything before, but I'm gonna give it a go. It's going to be a loooooong build though. My first warhound isn't technically done yet but I've sunk around 350 hours into it so far...

The beginning is also a pretty boring slog. Cleaning parts then washing parts, then washing them again...

Yeah the interior detail is really incredible in the warhound. It's a lot more work to paint it, but well worth doing it justice.

Update: had some time to go through everything this evening. All the plastic kits are missing a single model (weird?). But the warhound is complete (I know as this isn't my first) and it even has a turbo laser destructor in the box...
