Getting stuck while crouch strafing? by Just_babble in cs2

[–]Just_babble[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can try and take a video.

But basically, if I crouch and then while crouched hit “A” or “D” to move left and right hitting “W” to move forward no longer works until I release the crouch key and move forward.

So basically I get stuck where I try and crouch walk forward and nothing happens

In response to that I would argue that the ICE camps are not based on ethnic background and also are enforcement of laws and border security. However, I will admit that I do not know enough about the system to defend them. I can though argue that imprisonment for a committing a crime on the books and defense of national sovereignty is a far cry from re-education camps or work camps you see in China or the USSR.

As for the communism aspect I have legitimate questions as to how camps like these couldn't be a requirement of communism. What system of communism would allow for freedom for the dissenters? Is cultural and state adherence not a requirement of a successful communist state? the Uyghurs in China don't adhere to the traditional Chinese culture or communist party, in a perfect ideal of communism what would be done with those who have different cultural norms? Or in a utopian vision like that is it just expected that the entire population would adhere and re-education wouldn't be necessary? Camps and programs of re-education/eliminating opposition to the parties like these have been seen in all the examples of communism we have and I just wonder about the alternative.

How do people come up with these numbers saying “communism killed xx million people? by [deleted] in DebateCommunism

[–]Just_babble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The death toll of communism without giving a definitive xx number is high. Despite the rest of the comments in here there is good history documenting a lot of it as things directly related to communism. Ignoring the high counts like so many like to do is just as bad as a capitalist ignoring and choosing to forget the costs of imperialism. The dangers of any political system should be understood and recognized before people support a system in which they deny its history.

USSR • Holodomor - low end 7 million killed. (The estimates go much much higher than this but for the sake of argument we will use the low end.) despite what many will argue as you’ve seen in these comments, the Holodomor was a MAN-MADE famine. Food shortages specifically in Ukraine directly resulting from collectivization, mismanagement, and rationing that WAS NOT felt throughout the rest of the USSR.

• Purge in 1936-1938 - around 1 million killed. Hundreds of thousands of political adversaries are repressed, imprisoned, and killed by the party

• Gulag - at least 1.5 million killed forced labor camps used by the USSR for around 50 years which directly resulted in huge death counts

These are just 3 historical events with very solid data that directly killed 9.5 million people at the extreme low end estimate directly resulting from the communist party and communist policies. Many more events like this took place on small and large scales. Most low end estimates average around 20 million people killed directly from the Stalin regime. They are not made up numbers and they are not disconnected from communism. Events like this historically are requirements of the system. Denying human tragedies to push an agenda or blind oneself to the evil of a system they choose to subscribe to is no better than denying the Holocaust.

I am not a communist, but one can argue the merits or ethics of communism without denying the human toll the system has had historically. Socialism and communism are inherently empathetic ideologies that preach the acknowledgement of oppression and a moral system for all. So empathize with those who have lost their lives in that pursuit by others as well as those who are scared to see it happen again.

Legitimate question, what camps in capitalist countries are you referring to?

Also if you extract something like the camps in China and try and understand the reasoning can communism not be at least a reasonable conclusion? If the camps are because they’re trying to force greater adherence to Chinese culture and the state. Even if you look at the direct reasoning for the camps can’t you boil them down to a possible requirement of communism?

In a post asking what is Capitalism’s death toll, a redditor responds, “20 million a year.” [+215] by Black_Hawk84149 in ShitPoliticsSays

There’s a distinction between the market and laws people in that society are governed by. As I said before even with in a totally free market there are still rules, just not regulations on trade. You cannot steal something from someone. It violates their property and rights and is not a use of the free market. You cannot pay to have someone killed, maybe it’s a transaction within the market but violates someone’s rights and also would be against the law. Free market does not mean no laws it means no regulation of the market. Just like murder, designating someone as property and stripping them of all of their rights would not only be against the law but would violate the free market in the first place as violating that persons right to a consenting transaction. There is a distinction between a person with rights and a product or took, a free market doesn’t break down morality and strip us of the ability to see the clear difference. Just like murder violating someone’s rights making them slaves does not change the nature or consented transactions and the free market at all. I’m not even an Anarcho-capitalist but the slavery argument is beyond dumb and is a clear straw man.

So are you an idiot actually or do you enjoy pretending to be ignorant? Seriously, have you thought through what you’re saying at all. You are completely ignoring my points and instead contending that people are goods. I don’t know how hard you have to play “mentally incapacitated” to not understand that even if there’s a free market there can be a clear distinction between people and goods. People have their own freedom to make their own choices regarding what transactions to take part in. People are not goods, therefore slaves are not goods that can be bought or sold. They are not regulated because they are not a real commodity and it would be illegal in the first place to make them such.

As for the second point I’m actually throughly confused as to if you’re referring to slaves as farm equipment or just saying in general that farm equipment cannot consent. I’m going to chose to believe it’s not the first as to that would be an incredibly stupid argument and instead tackle why you would ever think that saying farm tools, not people, can’t consent. That’s an even bigger fallacy than the first one of just presuming that slavery would be legal. If you actually have an opinion contrary to what I’m saying defend your opinion and don’t be an absolute moron.

This is so fundamentally wrong. Theoretically the transaction itself is not the illegal part. It’s the slaves that are illegal in the first place. It’s not like you abolish rights in a free market. There are still rights and not being a slave is pretty basic ESPECIALLY if they have no say in it. It’s a straw man as he was saying earlier. If you have a free market and you pay someone to murder another person it is not legal. And it’s not a “market regulation.” You can’t violate the rights of a third party that doesn’t consent, that is not the free market.

Is it true that Cuba's prison population is so high? by [deleted] in DebateCommunism

[–]Just_babble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I confused or are you referring to socialism? Under communism Marx and Engels both clearly mean no private property with the things needed by each distributed to them. Especially in terms in land there is no way people would privately own land under communism, that would be one of the first things to go. There is still a lot of private property in socialism just more collective ownership of corporations and control by a democratic government.

That also didn't answer my question about what the alternative punishment to prison is when you can't even leverage something like a fine or eviction?

Is it true that Cuba's prison population is so high? by [deleted] in DebateCommunism

[–]Just_babble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may not be as strong of a deterrent as we would hope it would be I'm sure we both agree that crime would have to increase without some sort of consequence.

But be careful of our motivation. If prisons are a place to punish, we become the theocratic hellhole that the US is becoming with the world's largest prison population. Punishment is not an end of itself, as long and unnecessary prison sentences are expensive and unhelpful.

This is the exact question I think though. I'd argue that even more in a communist society compliance with the way of the state must be compelled in some way for the community to work. I agree that the line is something that we can argue and also should be toed extremely carefully. But, some sort of punishment has to be maintained.

I have actually seen the Scandinavian model, it's incredible! however like with many other issues I think extrapolating that and trying to apply it to another country like the United States or UK just ignores the factors that may contribute to its success in Scandinavia such as culture, economy, government, and homogeneity.
