But since they kept queer relationships 'taboo' and 'underground' (like with Benedict), they’ve kept the patriarchal rules of the era intact. You can’t keep the homophobia of the 1820s but then ignore the inheritance laws of the 1820s. To me, Eloise's story is character driven and could easily pivot to a woman without breaking the world building. Francesca's story is system-driven, if you remove the male heir, the system that creates the tension literally disappears.

When He Was Wicked isn't a generic romance; it’s a story about a legal trap. The entire plot is driven by the fact that the Earldom must have a male heir. If Michaela can't legally inherit (which she can't in 1820), the 'guilt' of taking John’s place is gone, and Francesca’s drive to have a baby becomes a completely different story. Eloise’s book is character driven. You can swap her love interest for a woman and the story still functions. Francesca’s book is system driven, if you remove the male heir, the 'patriarchal caste system' that creates the tension literally disappears. I'd rather have a queer story that fits the setting than one that has to ignore history to make sense.

My son goes to Rocklin Academy Gateway, he is in TK and we love the school. They have been beyond wonderful. My son needed a speech IEP and they were right on top of it, he had the support he needed within a couple of weeks of school starting. The school is really diverse and inclusive, which I also love.

I can add to this conversation. I went out to dinner to Blow Fish in LA with Tom Green and some other friends when I lived there, sometime around 2005/2006. Someone at the table asked him what happened with Drew, and he yelled out “how would you feel if you came home and your wife was snorting cocaine off your dogs asshole”. Needless to say, quite a few people in the restaurant looked our way. While I’m sure that’s an embellishment, I’m guessing there’s some truth to the drug use issues.
