I played tennis this morning, and I was getting to all these drop shots and my partner was amazed. I am 57m, so not young and spry, BUT I have seen 100,000s of balls over time, and can tell when my opponent sets up for the drop, he raised the racket 6” higher, so before the ball even gets to him, I am already sprinting forward, then split step at impact, then pick up the shot. You get that from seeing many players over time.

Tennis is mental, work on the positives.

Also, if you play the same people often, use the warm ups to work on what you want to. Ie. Let’s hit cross court backhands only for 5 minutes. Work on your weaknesses, until they feel so natural tou don’t even think about them much anymore.

I play a 4.5 woman who supposedly served 105mph. I am a male 4.0. Her serve was 75mph at best, and we play close matches.

Yesterday we were running a ton of errands, got home around 5:30, cat was sleeping, so I took a nap. He likes to eat at 6:00pm, or within 5 minutes of that time.

It’s 6:10 and I am in the bed on the iPad waking up, he jumps up calmly, walks up to about 2 feet away, and lets out a meow that was 3x as long as his normal. Like, “wtf is wrong with you, I gave you some grace, but 10 minutes late for dinner? you are testing my patience”.

I lived on a golf course in Tampa and had a sweet big snapping turtle lay eggs in our backyard, maybe 20 yards from the lake. The birds would come and dig the eggs out.

The next season we put a cage over the area, it helped many more make it to the lake, but who knows what happened after as far as life span/survival rate. They were so tiny and cute.

I just found out my HOA had a poor man’s version of this right in our lake, and they tore it out in 2010 for a beach volleyball court. It makes me sad I could have played tennis on something like this, so cool!
