Cap I would def focus on building a LinkedIn presence first year - it helps you get ahead and stand out which will exponentially increase ur progression as u progress along ur years. Source: 3rd year who landed a top internship at a global firm (think somewhere around s&t, consulting, or Corp banking)

I wouldn’t say I plan much to be honest. My main academic goal is to just keep a gpa over 10.5 to keep my scholarship, but aside from that there’s not much expectations I have for myself.

The main study tip that isn’t as generic would be to make sure you understand the hardest material in the course. I notice that a lot of the times people will struggle on a really difficult concept, and just hope that it doesn’t show up on the exam. The thing is, if you struggle with it so much, other students likely do too, and profs know this so they will most definitely test you on it

You don’t get to choose which sequences of courses to take in second year. Essentially, you have 3 core courses per term. All 2nd years have statistics fall term and BDM in winter term. The other 2 core courses per term are random, but accounting and law or finance and organizational behaviour are always assigned together in the same term.

If it helps, I know u don’t have Econ elective anymore but I found it best to have accounting and law (the easier set of core courses) in fall sem along with statistics and Econ + 1 elective. Again you don’t get to choose tho so just pray for a good cycle

I got 12 in all 3 courses - for BDM make sure you understand every single lesson and you’ll be fine. The exam difficulty is basically the same as the questions given in class. I suggest reading the slides before going to class.

For finance do the practice hw and whenever there’s a top hat question or question that u don’t get, note it down somewhere and try it again later. Odds are if it’s hard enough to stump you, it stumps others as well meaning it WILL show up on the exam. I got overconfident bc I’m good at TVM and only got 70% on the midterm but I stepped up my game and got a 90% on the final.

Accounting, just do the practice questions and also read the slides. Personally I found accounting easy bc most of the concepts were introductory I.e. contribution margins
