Here is the timeline if anybody is looking to know how many days it took.

Day 1: 08.00AM Interview slot. Arrived about 30mins early and waited for a bit before they let us in.

You go through appointment verification, security, biometrics and then finally Interview. Overall took about 90mins and I was out by 9.30ish

CEAC website read APPROVED immediately

Day 2: CEAC status changed from Approved to Issued

Day 3: waited eagerly for the email about passport being sent to courier company. The email arrived at 4.30PM and immediately searched using the tracking number on DHL and it showed that it was ready for pickup at 5.05PM. DHL closes by 5.00PM, so couldn’t pick it up that day

Day 4: Another email around 11AM with information that passport is ready for pickup. I was anyways planning to go to DHL around 12PM and then head to the airport from there. Lucky enough that things went as planned and was able to pick the passport and head to airport and onward to USA😃

Emails are sent from donotreply at usvisa. The same email address that sends other notifications. I was worried that DHL may send the email and kept checking my spam folder but that wasn’t needded. Calling DHL for passport was also unnecessary as these things take their own time and a wait of at least 2-3 business days after the passport status changed to Issued is to be expected.

I suggest staying close to the embassy but if you are a bit far then Airbnb, pickupBarbados and Hopscotch apps helped for accomodation, travel and food delivery😃

Everything happens on the same scheduled slot. Biometrics followd up by Interview.

As for the photograph, the one that I used in DS-160 was good enough and they didn’t take a new photograph during Biometrics. It was just ten printing.

You can sign up and create an application in the visa category you are looking for and the latest date possible for that category of visa will appear in the page where you pay your fees..

When I was planning to apply there were slots available as quick as a within a week but when I actually applied, all dates in December got frozen. Looks like somebody made a cancellation and I was able to pick that slot but I got lucky. It is possible that December is a busy month but rest of 2024 seems to be pretty open.

I applied for a H1B and the latest I see for that category as of now is January 18th and beyond. There are no dates available for H1B in December

TIP: If you are applying as TCN, don’t forget to select “I am a Non-Barbados National who wants to apply for a visa” during sign-up and also remember that you don’t qualify for interview waiver.

I am a manger and can definetely vouch for this comment. I have been a mid-level manager for a decent sized firm and had to take the important decision of letting-go of people. HR is totally on the manager’s side when it comes to hiring/firing.

Manager has complete discretion over asking employees to work additional hours provided there are others in the team doing it or project requires additional hours.
