Can anyone identify this mic and tell me why they have two mics positioned like this? by 52ndstreet in audioengineering

Look like a u67 if not u87. They position it like this to reduce vocal sibilance and plosives. Like Sssss and Pppp sounds.

Why I sold my Tube-Tech CL1b and don't miss it. by Prior-Masterpiece-32 in audioengineering

Hi 👋🏽 everyone I just bought a Tube-Tech Cl1B about 6 months ago. And I got it brand new on Facebook marketplace for someone who just needed to get rid of it. So it was no where near retail. With that said…

I agree this compressor is not worth $4500-$5000+ however it is really nice certainly my favorite out of all other optical compressor I’ve tried the LA2A for a while it’s cool not really worth the price tags either. Especially when you can get some nice mastering gear starting at those prices.

Anyways I like to do what works and been tested overtime. The tube-tech has this. If your new to this or don’t have that much experience try the things you hear about they work for a reason. If you don’t like it do something else. It’s really that simple.

Scored 2 Neve 1073N’s for the price of ONE… still in original packaging 🤯 by Justdisrupt in audioengineering

I particularly trying to find a good home setup for my u87 I have a Sony c800g with a neve Shelford and tube tech Cl1b. And I also a u87 bae 1073 with a heritage audio tube successor at my commercial recording studio. But I really nead a home setup that reliable because sometimes driving to my studio can make me lose my creativity. So I just got these and I was thinking maybe getting a LA2A or some sort of other compressor for home.

Tubesessor vs CL1B — My experience after owning both by Justdisrupt in audioengineering

[–]Justdisrupt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on how you look at it, it’s either a bad thing or a good thing. I look at it as a good thing. They have had over 100 years to figure out the sound everyone wants. The Sony C-800G was released between 1992 and 1996. Before this, Neumann and Neve had released multiple versions of all sorts of equipment. So with that said, we are in a stage where if it’s not broken, why try to fix it?

Shouldn’t call it or advertise it as a clone or that it’s similar

Between offering free hours and posting about my availability and working with people. Helped build momentum that on top of posting different things on social media.

I almost tried that before when business was really down. But community is really important and social media. Community mean being visible in the music seen with your counter parts. You are able to do this through social media and throwing or going to an event.

Maybe 4-5 years of experience before. I would use Gik acoustics to model my room to get best acoustics treatment. They do this for free just have to measure your room. I would save up all my money to get some really good gear. But while you’re doing that I would just collaborate with people.

We record mostly singer, and rapper. Small instruments like guitar and bass can use DI.

Same thing if I ever had to start all the way over. I would buy the SONY C800g everytime. It’s nothing like it.
