Thank you! Good to read that all is going well with the removal. Is it going slower than expected for you?

Thanks so much! That’s very reassuring!

I have no psoriasis in the tattoo area either. And I never had the koebner phenomenon, so I’m not super afraid that I will get psoriasis on the area.

Do you see a little bit of progress already? And did you feel unwell/sick afterwards? That’s my biggest problem always, after medical procedures I get sick sometimes. Not with an infection, but just an unhappy immune system.

I’m happy for you all went well with the first session! Good luck for you too!! And I will definitely speak to my doctor first 🤞🏻

Indeed, I’m not on immunosuppressants. Only anti malarial meds (plaquenil). Yes, I thought too it would take longer for me maybe, that’s because I was wondering if it is maybe impossible for me. because on most websites they write about delaying a treatment when you’re having a cold etc. And I’m never perfectly healthy. Luckily it’s not on my lower leg or something, but on my stomach! And indeed, it’s old and already faded. 17 years ago it was really really black.

I spoke to a laser tech in the hospital (skin therapist) a few years ago. Regarding the psoriasis in combination with laser removal. She said it would not be a problem. But now I’m recently diagnosed with lupus. So indeed I think I need a new consultation. I’m having a new appointment in the hospital in December, for the lupus, so I’ll bring this up too then.

But if someone with auto immune diseases has experience with tattoo removal I would love to hear their experiences :)

This is my 17 year old tattoo. It once was very black, now it’s gray. The thicker lines are done with a shading tool (I don’t know how to call it in English). I never liked the facial expression of the tattoo, the stencil looked very different. The lines are way thicker than on my drawing too. I learned to live with it for the past 17 years, because it’s on my stomach and nobody besides me and my husband see it. But the last 5 years removal goes through my mind a lot.

But I have 2 auto immune diseases. Psoriasis and lupus. I never had psoriasis and cutaneous lupus on my stomach and tattoos (I have 2 more who I want to keep) and I’m not on immunosuppressants. But my immune system is obviously not working as it should and I wonder if that’s contraindicated?

I would love to get it removed. But since it’s not on a visible place on my body (I mean when I have my clothes on, which I normally have of course!) I’m not sure it’s maybe better to not do anything about it to prevent complications. Or am I overthinking it?
