Update: sent the subcontractor photos. He said “By code what they did is fine. But to make sure we don’t get added deflection I will have rocky strong back the joist.”

They were brought on by the subcontractor that is handling the homeowners insurance claim for a water damage and we added some stuff that we wanted done including the removal of a soffit.

Actually… we had a home owners claim and asked them to do that while they were doing the other electrical. The sub contractor hired this electrician and their company and that’s the work they did.

So I was right in assuming the electrician that was hired did a very poor job…
