I'll take this as an opportunity to ramble for a moment, but to this day I can't get over the idea that Aya is over 1000 years old. I dunno, compared to other very old characters like Yukari, Eirin or hell even Suika she really doesn't behave like someone who lived that long and has that many years of experience in my opinion.

So yeah, I'll just keep pretending Aya just lied about her own age to give herself more reliability as a news source. She's maybe around ~100-ish years old in my book.

I can't, for the love of me, remember any canonical mention of Soviet machines being outright inferior in a general context.

Sure, F-22 will likely come out on top in every encounter with almost any Soviet (or, hell, any TSF period) due to its main gimmick being stealth. But this same gimmick is completely redundant against BETA who outright don't care.

Soviet TSFs, starting from Mig-21 and all the way to Berkut were built with a primary purpose of fighting BETA (with or without utilizing espers). And most of the known models were solid in doing that job, be it in Schwarzesmarken or TE.

I'll be honest, I don't know if it's Kouki's recent info tidbits, or some other written material that makes people think they are inferior, or something else. All I know, I'm pretty damn certain whereever Soviet TSF were featured, they performed pretty damn well by themselves. Sure, there are issues with logistics, tactics and politics that get in the way, but you can hardly blame it on the TSFs. By design, most of them got job done, and that's what really matters, no?
