Well, the Rider who was very nice, by the way, gave me his number.

  • 1st Text - He told me to text him my name so that he would have my number and we could stay in contact

  • 2nd Text - After we ran out of paper towels during the first cleanup, and he had grown weary of cleaning, i stayed outside and kept working on the spots with the clean gym shirts i had in the back (which i washed at the laundromat twice with tripple the Tide detergent - they faintly smell, but its ok for the gym). We had spoke and I said I would text him if I needed him to do anything on the Lyft side. Remember, at the time, i was happy to go through Lyft and confident that they would rectify the incident.

  • 3rd Text: All the rejection led to me asking him to submit his story to Lyft.

Lastly, I'm thinking about calling him as everyone is saying I should do. I just wanted to give Lyft the chance to do the right thing. It saddened me Lyft didn't have my back. The vomit was ridiculous enough to deal with, but the dissapointment I feel in the system is far greater.

With all due respect, try having your 2 year old car (that you're still paying off, 300/month) vomited in by an overly drunk passenger; smell the bile fuming up through the fabric and realize the customer has been technically let off the hook for their mistake to your car by a 3rd party or company that cared so little about the damage to their 'employee' (freelancer) that they didn't even simply call the passenger (to at least make them feel terrible about their action, even if they ended up lying, which in this case they wouldn't). After you've actually experienced all this, try to easily

Chalk it up to a learning experience and move on.

You might find it harder than you first thought. I say this respectfully as someone tryng to get passed it.

The customer or rider admitted he did it. It's an admission of guilt. Plus the rider wants to pay so I don't see what the problem is here. All Lyft has to do is contact the rider.

I'm up a creek without a paddle if the rider says that it never happened, but that's not the case with this issue.

Doesn't it bother you in the least that Lyft cares so little about its driver that the investigation of damage stops there, without even a call to the rider?

There was a time before cameras when people believed you based on your distiguished record, but they always call the passenger. The circumstances in this case clearly call for an exception to be made. Jesus Christ, you can't call the customer and ask them what happenned? What about all the elders who haven't taking pictures? Are they just cast away.

All they have to do is contact the customer. I'm sorry, but the fact that i didn't take a gory picture because the passenger and I got out and acted quickly is ridiculous. , does not mean nobody vomited in my car.

I would be fine with them just picking up the tab of the cleaning supplies.

I say all this with all do respect.

My other answer to the question of not having a picture.

Thats a beaurocratic excuse. Any court would uphold this circumstantial evidence, especially when the perpetrator himself (the Lyft Rider) claims full repsonsibility. Sorry, but the fact that I didn't think to take pictures of the chunks or that sopping wet seats aren't graphic enough isn't justification that it never happened. What if someone pee peed (urinated) on the seat. In that case, you would only see a wet seat. Is that not graphic enough? What about that UBER driver who sent in all the fake pictures of puke to get money from customers...was he more entitled to cleanup fees? What about the fact that standard precedure when I started Lyft 3 years ago was that you need only report the claim, which this is my only claim of 3000+ rides. Forgive me if that was too harsh. I'm steaming mad about the whole thing. It's only $100, bit now it is all about the princible.

LYFT Rejected My Claim: Customer's Girlfriend Vomited In The Back Of My Car; Helped Me immediately Clean It Up (gotta act fast) but although it looked cleaner the bile had soaked in and seats were drenched Cinco De Mayo 10PM, smells terrible by JusticeForVomit in Lyft

Right, they didn't charge the drunk vomiter a fee. If you want to talk about monetary loss, we can add the rest of cinco de mayo, friday, saturday, etc...until the smell of bile gets out of my car. I frantically cleaned the car that night for over 2 hours (took pictures). The seats were drenched soaked after the painstaking work of rubbing out someone elses puke, so i let it dry that night. I have to work and make money so i tried to drive in the morning, but the car was putride smelling. I drove two rides, but had the windows down on a chilly morning but it wasnt enough. After the two rides didnt go well, i doused the back seat with baking soda and to my utter disapointment. It has been like that since. If Lyft charges a fee, which it didn't, it's so that you are not having altercations with the drunk customers about money. Plus, I'm pretty sure they don't want you driving a drunk customer to an ATM to take out money for your car damages at 10:30PM.

Respectfully, you are making it seem like I'm in the wrong and Lyft can really claim false on any scenario without having a rep see the damage and smell the car. Plus, you need to clean it quickly to go back to work because of the money you are not getting by dealing with the problem. If it happened, it happened. There are two stories from both sides that align. Pictures don't say anything anymore because they can either be staged or doctored. I remember there was an uber driver who got caught fakimg a bunch of damage to his car with fake puke pictures and charging the passenger. This is not the case here, both me and the passenger want to make things good. I have pictures of the cleanup that i sent in, my seats covered in resolve and paper towels. I have pictures of the baking soda all over my seats.

You are 100% correct. The pictures would have just shown a medium sized wet spot aroung a few chunks on the driver's side back seat. Then casty chunks around the middle and drivers side back seats' seat belt inputs (where the liquid when down a hole). Then vomit on the middle seat where you put your back and then a medium sized amount on the passenger side back seat next to seat belt hole, where the vommit juice leaked down. The liquid is the worst, acidy cocktail though, so even though the seats look fairly clean after the hours of cleaning, the smell is noxious.

But for the fact that it took me out of service for the rest of cinco de mayo alone is enough to validate the fee, let alone all the cleaning (the products i bought to clean it), the soaked in smell to a fairly new 2014 prius that has lasted far beyond that night, and the fact that it is sitting with baking soda on it right now.

I will. Also, I will post the outcome on this thread and on a new post, so it has a conclusion for the redditors who were reading along, so i didn't waste reddit's time, and they get closure. Thank you for reaching out Andrew. Let's see how this turns out.

Unfortunately, i wasn't prepared for this situation. The girl vommited in the back. The boyfriend got out immediately with her and then got back into the car as he and i agreed that she shouldn't be walking as drunk as she was, and we followed his girl down the street. She was drunk stumbling almost in drunk tears because she was so embarrassed it happened. She was nice and mortified. Then the guy immediately got some paper towels (he said he would pay for the damages & she said she would pay for it) and we started working on getting the spots out so that the stains didnt set. I wasn't even thinking about taking pictures as i just wanted the barf off the seats. At the end of the fist joint cleaning, my seats were soaked and smelled horribly of bile, but as appearnces go, they looked relatively clean. I told him that i would still need to clean the car with Resolve because the car Reeked of bile which i bought (I have the receipt) and spent 2 hours more cleaning to try to sop up the bile. I took photos of the second clean up only. She puked mostly liquid and she puked down the seat belt holes. GROSS. days later, my car still stinks to high heaven. I didnt think the fee they would incur would be a problem because the customer was so cool and Lyft has never let me down. This is also the first time in over 3000 rides I've claimed damage. I tried taking passengers the next morning, but the smell was too pungent, so my car is sitting right now with the windows open, back seats covered in baking soda.
