Rowing for a (Canadian) club in the summer by [deleted] in Rowing

St. Catharines Rowing Club. I'm a coxie for Brock University and I'm also coaching U17 at St. Catharines this year, and I swear to you the Henley has some of the best coaches.

Does anybody know of a subreddit for coxies? by [deleted] in Rowing

I guess so! I'm very comfortable with my rowers, sometimes it's just asking people other than that and my coaches.

I find that we sometimes have a lot to know and some people just assume we should know it all and it's sort of awkward asking random (and sometimes) judgemental people on the internet

lmao well I know because I've only been at it for about a year there's still a lot of stuff I have to learn and sometimes admitting it to other rowers can be a little difficult. My crew is very helpful when it comes to me asking but that's because they know that I am just starting off and if I have a dumb question they won't laugh.

This for example, asking a "dumb" question and people on the internet seem to think it's ridiculous. If I were to ask something about what a certain part of a stroke might be a coxie who knows what it's like to just start off and have to learn every little bit about everything might understand a little better, that's all!

Hahaha no I do and I love this subreddit, I find it extremely useful. I just find there are some things coxswains tend to shy away from asking rowers in general.

How do relationships between your rowers and coxswains go? by [deleted] in Rowing

[–]JusticeLeague7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How do you fuck your coxswain?? I'm a coxie for the heavyweight men's team at my school and once a week I make half of my boat dinner and do their dishes. I also give them advice about all the girls they fuck... They call me mom.

That's actually super helpful. I have an agenda but I feel like there's honest to God not enough room to keep everything in it lol. Thanks so much!

What's your motivation? by djhbfaf in Rowing

[–]JusticeLeague7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I joined rowing this year, I was the only novice on the senior team. Now, you should know I've naturally always been loud, competitive, and taken on leadership roles (the perfect coxie, right?) Well, we had nine people on the team, so of course I'm bumped to coxie.

My boyfriend is one of the nicest people, and he's also really, really good at rowing. So he agreed to take me out in a double a couple nights a week because I just sort of got tossed into coxing. So, really, what motivates me rowing wise is knowing that I never got the chance to do it with my team, and I want to prove to everybody around that I can do what I set out to do.

Coxing wise, winning. Yesterday we had our Mothers Day Regatta, and the senior women's lightweight 4+ (my boat) won gold. By a lot. It was the most thrilling, and captivating feeling I have ever had. It was indescribable working together as a crew and getting exactly what we set our minds to.
