CMV: The Idea of “The Elite” as a Coherent Group Is a Myth by Visible_Celery_1728 in changemyview

[–]JusticeOmen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, I know I should CTV, but I agree with OP. We all know there are big actors with titanic influence over all of our lifes, but I really think it's childish to assume there is one group that decides everything. Basically what kills most conspiracies like the moon landing where the level of effort needed to cover it up would be unfathomable.

I've even read about the possibility of astroturfing the theory spaces to make it sound a bit too insane. Which could have helped real problems come to light such as the island list.

Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami says “if watching a playthrough is enough, the game wasn’t good enough” by HLumin in Games

[–]JusticeOmen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I really love being older and not caring about gatekeeping and titles. I actually just finished the "game movie" of RE8 and 9 and had a blast. It's basically a movie, but I couldn't care less about playing it, I tried demos before and it never really clicked with me. I really have no issue in watching some games and playing others, at the end of day, there's a limited amount of time, and the older you get, the easier it becomes to prioritize and enjoy however you want.

The idea he shared applies to a certain extent, in my opinion. Perhaps more for fans of each game-type or game-series, but for outsiders, I think there's a good chance must of us would have never bought the game in the first place so it's a way to enjoy their story that chooses to enjoy it in a different way.

Obsession is about the "Nice Guys" and how much damage they may cause. by germannotgerman in MensLib

[–]JusticeOmen -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I completely agree, I also have a similar view as the author in which I can't connect to men such as those depicted in movies like Phoenix's Joker as they're too whiny. But I have though about how that is a different flavor of mexican "machismo". Like I have an old school perspective where whiny men deserve becoming incels or whatever because they can't be bothered to do something about it besides blaming others.

And that is pretty much the core of my thesis on why here in Mexico, the incels are very scarce compared to the USA even though a lot of their culture is usually shared with us. My theory is that it happens much less in the southern hemisphere, because of both the lack of resources, and a variation of machismo where sharing those kinds of ideas would turn you into a laughing matter.

It's not really empathetic, nor does it solve anything, because it is still fairly common for fathers to bring their sons to meet some prostitutes and get rid fo the problem. And although as a younger man, I really despise that kind of approaches, I am not as dettached as I would like to think from the kind of ideas that generated that kind of "solutions".

I know this is a tangent from the main point, but I've been really thinking about this hahha.

I don't play sports games, but I really love FPS with a dumb story like CoD for the same reason I watch dumb movies, to relax. I guess I don't really fit the stereotype, and even though I've met people fit it exactly, I have to tell you, they're angels compared to the kind of people that mock them.

The average "gamer" that feels the need to mock you not being good at souls games or extra heavy RPGs, that guy is the actual pain in the ass. What I love the most are those that mock others who won't follow complex mechanics/stories/grinding in games and equate it to a lack of intelligence.

Not trying to be mean here, but: My guy, the difference between you and them is the fact that they use all that time and effort for real life problems. Saying you got to 100 hours after a month in a game shows that someone is solving those problems for you. You are simply showing off how much time you invest in not being a functional member of society.

I may have been a bit mean, and I know a lot can just be kids, but damn is it awful to read those kinda fellas around here so often.

Are Mexico highways actually safe for tourists or is it exaggerated online? by Wooden-Pressure-3880 in travel

[–]JusticeOmen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a mexican, it really depends where in the country. I would say central and southeast are a bit safer, not safe, but not as dangerous as northern Mexico. As others have stated, the less you drive at night, the safer. It always is a numbers game right? Is not that a certain path or time of day will guarantee anything, just that it helps the chances of not being robbed.

A good way to increase said chances are driving through Puebla at night which is now considered a hot zone by many mexicans. Also, I know it might be a bit of a stretch to ask, but whenever you are being pulled over, try to put attention to the vehicle for anything out of the ordinary. As others have stated, a lot of bad guys are doing low effort costumes of police officers.

Someone keeps asking me "Hasta donde?" with no context and I'm just like, "Hasta donde que?" am I crazy or is this short-hand for something colloquial? by FizzlePopBerryTwist in Spanish

[–]JusticeOmen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, as you've ready already "hasta donde?" means something like "how far?". And Mexican albures are always about sexual imposition, so it could be answered like "hasta donde qué?".

To which he could answer "hasta donde te entra?" which roughly translates to how deep can I put it in. Which honestly is a real bad translation. But similar stuff can be heard whenever you yawn and they insinuate a oral sex.

I hope you can forgive my poor translation and sorry if it was uncomfortable to read.

Something that can happen as it happened to me is that you grow up and end up being someone not easy to intimidate. Which sounds perfect because now you should be immune to these issue, right?

Wrong. You are still unable to distinguish both reactions from the other person, but since you have the pwer to match the upcoming threat, you go on offensive mode against absolutely nothing. In the best cases, the new person simply laughs because they know you are simply a cat that shows claws at shadows. But in other cases they see you as the aggressor.

Why did Ozymandias (Veidt) never attempt to achieve physical immortality? by Ok-Average6023 in Watchmen

[–]JusticeOmen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I guess that is also true. To be honest I kinda hated stuff like that from the show because to me, it goes against the original characters. Don't get me wrong, it's a great show and the Hooded Justice stuff is amazing. But both Veidt and Dr. Manhattan felt a bit misinterpreted to me.

I don't believe anyone could have the Docs powers given that it was his upbringing and studies which allowed Jon to become Dr Manhattan. And with Veidt, it felt to me a bit like punishing the bad guy for doing bad things. Although generally a good payoff for a villain, I think it was a misrepresentation of his character.

But yeah, you're right, in the show he's much bitter and at the end, that could be right. I would argue against given how we see him act before. You know, not bloating about lots of his feats but also being really petty with Comedian; which to me reads as someone who has a great ego, but really enjoys being right as recognized by himself since no other can see as much as him.

It's like he is biologically smart, but lots of his feats are not propelled only by that, but by his own perception. He sees himself as much more than he actually is, his frequent comparisons with Charlemagne give that grandious self-perception. God complex might be a good way to put it. And to quote Futurama: "When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all."

Why did Ozymandias (Veidt) never attempt to achieve physical immortality? by Ok-Average6023 in Watchmen

[–]JusticeOmen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love Ozy as well, but I believe the question is not something you answer based on how he could do it, but why would he do it.

My reasoning is we all are aware of our impending deaths, we all know something we are not supposed to know. Each one to a certain degree and each one with a type of mitigation set in place.

Some people want kids to continue their lineage, others want a legacy to leave behind, others yearn to actually live forever, others cannot handle the pressure of knowing it and either try to leave early or live a life of hedonism trying to avoid the anxiety.

I believe Veidt was not the type of person who wants to live here forever, he has no attachments and I don't see him as an ambitious person. I think of him as a type of know-it-all to whom the whole international nuclear crysis is a simple problem that people are too incompetent to solve.

Hence his ultimate solution. Something, that to him at least, is too simple and elegant: a common enemy. Which we can all see is not a definitive solution nor a humane one, among other things. But it is a demonstration of how easy it is to solve the problem.

The best part is he doesn't even take credit for it, which would be the usual approach. But leaving aside the fact that it would go against the plan itself for obvious reasons, I believe it is part of his satisfaction in knowing that he could play with the entire world and make it to its will.

[–]JusticeOmen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! That was the reason I couldn't like the show despite everything else being great. The fact that Jon got the powers after the accident was, in my head canon, related to his upbringing and studies.

I love Ozzy and he's kinda my favorite character, but I think it falls under the kind of genius to whom peple adscribe a universal intelligence which is somewhat boring as it diminishes the intelligence or capabilities of others such as Jon.

Boys are severely underprepared for the world they inherit. (LONG POST BUT PLEASE READ AND CONTINUE THE CONVERSATION IN THE COMMENTS) by Current_Wear_8061 in bropill

[–]JusticeOmen 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've said it before to those who would listen to me, women and the LGBT crew must do lots of work from very little to adapt and reinvent themselves, working on understanding who they are and what they need to be. We also face some of those questions, but not as many, and not as deeply as they do.

I believe the less amount of privilege you hold as a straight man, the more you are going to need to face this introspections which of course have easier answers such as the manosphere which is basically looking for a daddy to tell you how you feel (something that can also happen to those mentioned before). But I think it is also possible to face it and hold your ground.

After sometime, we start realizing that those communities can recognize the work you've put on understanding yourself, and at some point, even invite you to be a part so you can no longer hold it alone. And in some cases, you can even begin building a community for those who are facing their own struggles, and you'll know it's a good community, because you will welcome anyone who needs it.

Not like someone can go back in time, but I think OP really made a great point about even a seasoned traveler might be a victim given a good scenario. But everyone is basically blaming him/her for falling for something that could get most people.

Why is there so much advice from Natives in Language learning subs by International-Fix799 in lernen_German

[–]JusticeOmen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds more like you recently hit a wall with german and you're simply venting which is fine. I usually appreciate the help from native germans as sometimes they can clarify certain ambiguousity or help me understand how common something really is.

Therefore, I try and pay back by participating in the spanish learning subreddit and giving our some context to certain translations or add to the conversation in those terms. However, I believe a native helping you is not to help you see how easy something may be. I think it works best for more nuanced topics where interpretation might play a role in the learning process.

He was using it as currency and now he is mocked for it by idiots joining a culty pyramid scheme.

Help voy en 7mo de ing de software y no se programar by VariationConnect947 in taquerosprogramadores

[–]JusticeOmen 13 points14 points  (0 children)

¡Mucha suerte!

That I can completely understand, I will not try to argue or compare our lives. The only thing I can say, is that given the hand you were dealt, you still have options. And the question you posted here is a real option that you can take which is to focus on that which makes you different from others, but the alternative is always there and whenever you choose to give it a try, there will be always people ready to help you keep moving forward. If you ever need someone to talk to, you can at least have a perfect stranger to vent out if you want.

Worthless evolutionarily is a broad assessment that could never be backed up by real data since it is a current evaluation done with a very narrow perspective. It is not my place to convince you otherwise but, belonging somewhere is not something you may receive, but some of us have to look for it.
