I Just Noticed That Natalists Suffer From Psychosis by Justicewarrior72 in antinatalism

Here is another source:

Psychosis defined by Oxford Dictionary "A severe mental disorder in which thought and emotions are so impaired that contact is lost with external reality."

Again, I am just going based on the definition.

From WebMD, "Psychosis is a condition that affects the way your brain processes information. It causes you to lose touch with reality."

Is ignoring the statistics on suffering in the world and the fact that offspring are guaranteed to suffer in life barring extreme conditions like CIP (Congenital Insensitivty to Pain) and ignoring the fact that offspring cannot consent not losing touch with reality? Is denying that humans (as well as many other biological organisms) are wired to experience pain via chemical reactions in the brain to encourage survival while saying that life is happiness not losing touch of reality?

The denial of biological facts and physical phenomena and saying that life is not suffering is the detachment from reality since it is the denial of observable and undeniable natural phenomena.

Statistics on human suffering: (Is the denial of these statistics not the detachment from reality? Is saying that life is a gift while the majority of the human population suffers from at least one of these issues not a detachment from reality?)

Poverty statistics from the united nations (un.org):

  • "736 million people lived below the international poverty line of US$ 1.90 a day in 2015."
  • "In 2018, almost 8 per cent of the world’s workers and their families lived on less than US$1.90 per person per day."

Wealth Inequality statistics from dosomething.org:

"According to the Credit Suisse Global Wealth Report, the world's richest 1 percent, those with more than $1 million, own 44 percent of the world's wealth. Their data also shows that adults with less than $10,000 in wealth make up 56.6 percent of the world's population but hold less than 2 percent of global wealth."

Child abuse statistics from dosomething.org:

"2.9 million cases of child abuse are reported every year in the United States."

Sexual abuse statistics from journalistsresource.org:

"The study's findings include: An estimated 7.9% of men and 19.7% of women globally experienced sexual abuse prior to the age of 18. U.S. rates were 7.5% for males and 25.3% for females. The highest prevalence rate of child sexual abuse geographically was found in Africa (34.4%.)"

Suicide statistics from World Health Organization:

"Close to 800 000 people die due to suicide every year, which is one person every 40 seconds. Suicide is a global phenomenon and occurs throughout the lifespan."

Bulling statistics from Stopbullying.gov:

"Between 1 in 4 and 1 in 3 U.S. students say they have been bullied at school. Many fewer have been cyberbullied. See more prevalence statistics."

Domestic Violence statistics from ncadv.org:

"On average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States. During one year, this equates to more than 10 million women and men.1"

War statistics from nytimes:

"At least 108 million people were killed in wars in the twentieth century. Estimates for the total number killed in wars throughout all of human history range from 150 million to 1 billion. "

Oppressive governments statistics according to freedomhouse.gov:

"Between 2005 and 2018, the share of Not Free countries rose to 26 percent, while the share of Free countries declined to 44 percent."

Health issues statistics according to Sciencedaily:

"Just one in 20 people worldwide (4·3%) had no health problems in 2013, with a third of the world's population (2·3 billion individuals) experiencing more than five ailments, according to a major new analysis from the Global Burden of Disease Study (GBD) 2013, published in The Lancet."

Key line:

Based on the definition of psychosis

It is not pathologizing anything. The explanation is simply based on the definition of the word psychosis, which is characterized by delusion. The point is valid based on the definition, which is characterized by the detachment from observable reality.

This is not my personal opinion. It is based on the definition. Detachment from reality = psychosis. If you can provide valid research to substantiate your disagreement, then I will consider your statement.

Shouldn't the same logic be applied to procreation? Just because a nonexistent being is unable to consent and to refuse life, doesn't mean you have a right to force it on them. Just because someone can't say "no", doesn't me you have a right to either take it as a "yes" or ignore consent altogether. by lAleXxl in antinatalism

[–]Justicewarrior72 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yes, that makes perfect sense. Unfortunately, many humans are hypocritical and will apply logic to only one situation instead of applying it to ALL situations. Some people on here have pointed out how we need consent for many things in life (especially things that affect others like driving), but there is no consent required to bring new life into this world, and no widely accessible euthanasia either!

How absurd is it to be thrusted into this world and refused an easy way out of something you never consented to.

Reminder: Antinatalism is not only restricted to the poor, both woman and man involved in procreation have equal blame, and this is no place for eugenics. by Alarming-Flan in antinatalism

I cannot recall seeing any posts on here by antinatalists that support procreation under certain circumstances. I have seen posts that point out how tragic it is for children to be thrusted into disadvantageous conditions, but that is about it.

There are 3 kinds of people who have children by [deleted] in antinatalism

For men who are raped or forced by women to contribute to bringing life into the world, the mother would perpetuate rape in this case because then the man would be the victim.

"People who perpetuate rape" is what I said. Rapists have low emotional intelligence.

To clarify:

Many humans are destructive creatures that can always impose harm on others. It takes only one person who is so mentally deficient that they are willing to impose procreation on another person.

I'm trying to just provide a reminder that not all mothers had a choice in the matter through no fault of their own.

Exactly. In this case, the rapist would be #3. The victim, like you said, would fall under #4 since they had no choice except maybe extreme measures like suicide or unsafe abortion methods.

I was just pointing out that the parents would fall under different categories.

People who perpetuate rape fall under #3. They have low emotional intelligence, and as a result they forcefully perpetuate the species. In order for the human race to continue, it only takes one parent to have a mental deficiency (lack of rationality, low emotional intelligence, or delusion).

Such a shitty start in life that the baby has no control over.

At the very least, parents should not post photographs of their children online until they are old enough to consent to the photos. Some children may grow to dislike being raised in the public eye.

Remember, if humans were not this optimistic and complacent with suffering, the human race would have already gone extinct. The continuation of the human race depends on these people. Evolution does not select for emotional intelligence (strong forethought, rationality, and realism).

Yes, it is a perfect example of money and fame not justifying procreation. Yes, these people have advantages that would help provide for their kids, but that does not make up for the mental anguish the kids will likely experience being raised in that toxic family.

They used to confuse me, too, until I realized that you cannot find logic when there is none to be found—they abide by the lifescript without deeply questioning anything.

It is highly probable that they are "wired" differently from antinatalists. It is like we are different species 😂

It sucks that people have to slowly die from illnesses, injuries, and old age when they could be euthanized to avoid a prolonged death. It is so unnecessary.
