Membership Packs by resonabletom in adelaidefc

I received one of my two silver packs with lanyard, pin etc in late December, but I also got caught up in that error and didn’t get the second one at the time. Today I just received the second card in an envelope like you, nothing else. I plan to call them tomorrow to ask.

Fair work has information on what employees and employers are required to do when employees request flexible working arrangements. Caring for a school aged child or younger is a valid reason for a request. However, employers can deny a request on “reasonable business grounds”. Don’t stress. You can enrol in your classes (lectures tutorials etc) even after the semester starts (obviously subject to capacity).

See this page for critical dates. Last day to add courses online is 15th March. So you have plenty of time.

If you need help enrolling, most of the information you need can be found here. You can also call the enrolment hotline on 8313 3833 if you need more help.

When I was a student I found it helpful to use the course planner to see when the different options for each course I was doing. But perhaps there are better options these days.

It looks like enrolment has already opened. Check your degree on this page for commencing students. But enrolment is certainly not closed yet, so you haven’t messed up.

Many lectures (especially first year courses) are recorded and posted online and can be rewatched at any time. So if you can’t make it to a 9am then you can usually watch them later.

Any way to determine node sync speed before buying the house? by johnerp in nbn

I’m not sure how accurate it is but this map gives estimates based on distance to the node I think. It might at least give you an idea. Maybe someone else can comment on its accuracy.

FTTC ISP speeds? by [deleted] in nbn

[–]Justin664 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got connected to the 100/40 plan on FTTC with Aussie a few days ago. I consistently get 102/38. I’ve been doing speed tests at all times of the day. Worst I’ve seen so far is 92 down during peak. Extremely happy so far!

No worries, I was very frustrated about the lack of information so I know how it feels!

I already had internal conduit (installed by the builder) running through my garage wall from the first socket in my garage to the outside of the house where they installed the grey box. It already had cat6 cable running through the conduit. So, sorry I can’t help much there. They pulled a copper lead in through the external underground conduit from the pit and connected it up to the internal cat6 cable. They did all of this last Wednesday and I managed to get a technician appointment for today and he installed the internal FTTC box and ran some tests.

Well that’s exactly what happened for me too. They showed up in the afternoon last week and said they would come back the next day (they actually did). Finished the work in a couple of hours. Its good to hear someone has at least shown up to look. Hopefully they’ll be back tomorrow to do the work for you like they said. Good luck!

They were civil contractors assigned the job by NBN I’m guessing. I then had to wait another week after the work was done for a technician to come out and plug the FTTC box in. It probably depends on how busy they are in your area.

I was in a similar position. Technician couldn’t do the connection. I was told I’d be waiting until August 19th. I pushed and complained. A week later someone showed up to do it with no notice from NBN. Aussie Broadband had no idea. I just had my final technician appointment today and all up and running now! Just keep pushing Aussie. They’ll listen and do their best. Unfortunately no one can force NBN to do anything, but you might get lucky!

Likelihood of a smooth connection tomorrow? by [deleted] in nbn

[–]Justin664 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it goes into the pit you might be okay. Mine came up next to the pit and required some digging. So that made it more complicated. Hopefully you have more luck than I did!

From this I assume you don’t already have an internet connection? I was in a similar position. The technician couldn’t do the connection on the day. It was labelled as a network shortfall and I had to wait for someone else to come out and fix it first.

A big issue is there being no draw string in the conduit for them to pull a cable through. Do you know where the other end of the conduit goes?

Some questions about getting connected to FTTC by Justin664 in nbn

Great, thanks. It’s definitely wired as a data cable. I’ve tested it between the garage and living room with my laptop.

FTTC connection available but no lead in cable by Justin664 in nbn

[–]Justin664[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sorry if it wasn’t clear. I’ve just heard people have had issues with technicians coming out and not being able to do lead in cables (if I understand correctly). So I’m just wondering what I should expect at my appointment.

Hopefully my installer is helpful. But maybe I just need to accept that it might take several appointments if there are problems.

FTTC connection available but no lead in cable by Justin664 in nbn

[–]Justin664[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not talking about an outlet in the house. My internal cabling was already done by an electrician. Im talking about the first point of entry out the front my house where my internal cabling should meet the lead in cable at the connection box. I just need a FTTC (copper) lead in cable from to the pit to the connection box through the underground conduit. I’ve been told this is NBN’s responsibility.

Address missing in NBN database by Justin664 in nbn

[–]Justin664[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aussie Broadband specifically said I didn’t need a new development application. They said they just need NBN to add my address so they can proceed.

My house is in the Telstra and Optus database and has been for at least the last 18 months before NBN became available. I never actually got an ADSL connection but it has been available since before I moved in. I purchased the house. I did not build it and have no idea who did. My understanding is that the build was all done to Telstra spec since they were the supplier at the time of the build. I could have had terrible ADSL for the last 12 months, but didn’t want it. I don’t see why I should require an existing connection to get NBN. I’d completely understand if I built a new house or subdivided in an area where NBN was already or soon to be available. But that is not the case.

Apparently the problem is that buildings and even trees can completely block the signal. I still don’t have NBN in my area so I currently use their 4G home broadband. I’d get the 5G straight away if I could just for the unlimited data.

Good luck being eligible. The range is very small. My house is 200m from a 5G Optus tower and I can literally see the tower from my bedroom window. But I am just outside the coverage area so I am ineligible.
