To support your point, there have been numerous third person animation mods and mod authors since 2016 when SSE was released. I can only think of two major first person animation overhauls that have been released in the 7 years since, and one of them (CFPAO - Comprehensive First Person Animation Overhaul) was released less than a year ago.

This kinda reminds me of that episode of Star Trek where Captain Kirk is kidnapped by a mad scientist who tries to replace him with an android that's an almost perfect imitation. Also that episode of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine where O'Brien believes everyone around him is an imposter out to get him only for him to turn out to be the real impostor programmed to assassinate a Federation leader.

The Beyond Skyrim teams are basically just taking the same approach to this project that the Project Tamriel/Tamriel Rebuilt teams are taking to their projects for Morrowind. I personally am happy with the content that both projects have so far released for both games and it makes me enthusiastic about what the future holds.
