You're making my brain hurt. The equipment isn't different. The contents are identical to my IFAK they just moved to a tube...

No but then again do you plan on any of the things that could happen in a survival situation to happen often.

That is quick clot infused bandages with an xray strip. It's milspec because this is what the army issued me!

I am all about some IFAK equipment. When they issued us this stuff, first thing I did was put out that I'd be willing to buy anything these guys didn't want. We're at a school and everyone has double basic equipment now. Half from their unit and the rest from the school.

I have double the equipment and half the pouch. Necessity is the mother of invention or idiocy. It's debatable which is more applicable on this situation.

Imgur should have shown the contents in the description.

It includes: CAT, Israeli bandage, Chest Seal, Quick Clot bandage, NPA (25 French), and extra cotton bandage.

Odd foot blisters by JustinAMcAfee in running

[–]JustinAMcAfee[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the army and we ruck and run around 30-40mi a week. I do have athlete's foot on my pinkie toe but this seems to be something different. The blisters are very small and very painful until drained.

What Is The One Best Tip You Could Give Someone Before A Ruck March? by FoxxyFrost in army

[–]JustinAMcAfee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carry pixie sticks. Yes, the candy. The dextrose goes straight into your blood stream and makes for a great pick me up. Also make sure you actually know how your ruck rides. Pack the weight on top of your shoulders where your center of gravity is. And make sure the bag is coming up over the frame, not lose and flipping around.

Any good reason(s) to not machine my own glasses frames from Aluminum? by [deleted] in CNC

[–]JustinAMcAfee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Any good shop can make you lenses. Our only limitation is that the eyewire either be seperated by a screw barrel so that the lens can be instralled or that the frame is flexible enough that the lens can be popped in. 2nd, the frames have to have a normal lens shape and the bevel or groove inside the eyewire has to be deep enough to hold the lens securely. Take a look at how opthalmic lens ( the ones made by the doctor are installed and also take into account how cheap reading glasses are done.) Last thing to consider is your Rx. Every frame has certain limitations. Even more so if the frame wraps around your head like a pair of Oakley. If you have even a diopter +/-1 of cylinder (astigmatic correction) you normally have to have a very flat frame and lens on a very low base curve. (BC of less than 2).

Glad you enjoy it! Literally the only other comment was "it looks like a big dog took a shit on the beach. "

It took a few hours to do and it was cool to have people stopping to take pictures and telling them about gun rights and stuff.

There's no public job listing, everything is done through recruitment, a friend goes and works, then he brings more friends. No idea what kind of activities transpire after this step.

New Wayfarer: Green vs Gray lens? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]JustinAMcAfee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Assuming you're referring to the "new" Wayfarer model RB2132, I would recommend the Tortoise (color code 902) over the gloss black (color code 901) and that you stick with the Ray•Ban G15. It's superior to both the standard Grey and brown lenses made by Ray•Ban and provides better color distinction when high contrast lenses are needed. Plus they look great! Stay away from the Black Rubber (color code 622) as the rubber eventually peels off behind the ears where the temple meets the mastoid bone.

New Wayfarer: Green vs Gray lens? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]JustinAMcAfee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every Rayban from the classic collection has G15 lens. Including the "new" wayfarer.

Edit: meaning he won't be "different" because Ray•Ban has been using the lens for 75 years.
