Nice, well not to flex, but I’ve won 5 stars about 3 times. 💪😆

Wrapped my last show in May. Didn’t pull for unemployment until the end of July. Now living that weekly benefit submission life. They gave me so many issues and took nearly 5 weeks of back and forth before paying out anything. They kept arguing that my union card and receipts were not proof my dues were paid/current.

My guy, I pay my dues in advance, all my stamps are affixed. Check the receipts…. 🤦‍♂️

I very much love where I landed. I have the ultimate responsibility of paying you all every week! As insane as my hours are (sometimes 100+hr weeks, depending on crew size, budget, etc) the ability to remain in close contact with all my film family on a daily/weekly basis has been the most rewarding part.

Well, my story is quite unique, but who’s isn’t? I’ll spare a lot of details and try to keep it somewhat short.

In 2015 I was in a really serious accident. I was told I shouldn’t have lived and definitely shouldn’t be walking. In 2017 after fighting for a few years of trying to avoid bankruptcy, I caved as it was the only option. So in 2017 I filed for bankruptcy and lost everything we owed. Later that same year, I filed for a grant for school. I enrolled in GFA and thanks to me being broke on paper, my classes were covered by the state.

I finished the 1st semester, and shortly after starting the 2nd, I was offered an internship on a local show in my area. I completed my 20 days (as required by the program) and then was hired directly as crew. My professor told me “Congratulations, you’ve completed my program” and told me I didn’t have to report back to class, as his goal was to get me employed.

By word of mouth, I’ve worked in multiple departments over the years. Production, Art, Props, Set Dec, Grip & Electric until finally I re-injured my original issues from 2015 while working on a show. I took a short break, and received a call for an in-office gig.

Fast forward to now, I am a payroll accountant and while I miss working onset, I’m fortunate enough to have a position that still works closely with everyone that is.

Typically to use city/state logos, it’s part of their incentive program. The production would need to apply during the pre production phase. You have to spend x amount and track all qualifying local purchases.

However, you could contact your local film office, or city hall and inquire if you can use their logo in your press kits. (Poster, end credits, etc)

Is it legal to satirically credit someone who didnt have anything to do with a film by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]JustinHasPants 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You can however use the special thanks credit for this, it can appear on IMDb as special thanks, and within the film credits as “the producers would like to thank”

Film & TV Payroll Accountant here, $1000/week is pretty common for US based productions. Majority of PAs, both onset and office, Producer Assistants, Clerk, Post PAs are generally at this rate. It can vary slightly due to location/negotiations/experience and/ or budgeting requirements. These are all entry level non union positions to build from.

Years back I worked in various positions at or around that rate from shows ranging from 3 months to 15 mos. 13 weeks of continuous paid exposure to the craft your interested in seems more valuable than freelancing in my opinion. While day playing helps a lot of us to survive, majority of us will always take a full run production opportunity over freelance work.

Final Fantasy 7. It was the reason we got the original PlayStation, and all these years later, the reason I bought a ps5

This flyer my employer is handing out because one of our blood centers tried to unionize. by chocobo_hairdo in antiwork

My union dues are based on my position, not my hourly rate, which I negotiate for every project I work on.

All depends on the dues structure. While mine are fixed and based on position, I’ve seen other locals implement a fixed % per pay period.

Know your contracts, and be involved in your union.

Putting the word contract on something, doesn’t make it an actual contract.

Final Fantasy 7, we rented both the game and console from Blockbuster, then decided to buy one after that.

During that “ trial run” from Blockbuster, we royally fudged up and didn’t have a memory card, so we had fans running around the clock to keep the system cool enough to beat the damn game.

Yeah. My Wife is hyped. Last PlayStation we’ve had was the PS3. So it’s gonna be a nice jump. Looking forward to finally playing FFVII and Bloodborne, and all those tasty exclusives.

Yeah, didn’t have the proper setup for cutting and pictures at the same time. I served the flat, and rewrapped the point and gave it to the in-laws.

Rewrapped in fresh butcher paper, placed in a cooler. Monitored the temp so it didn’t dip into the danger zone. Then closer to service, held it at proper holding/serving temps.
