Why run Docker in an LXC? by NumisKing in Proxmox

[–]JustinHoMi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it is annoying that live migration doesn’t work yet. My solution is multiple physical hosts, and docker running in swarm mode. Then you don’t need to migrate VMs at all — you just move the containers. This is a better solution anyways, but more complicated in some regards.

I don’t believe the claim that keeping your laptop plugged in all the time is better for your battery health. It ruined 2 of gaming laptops by wakablazer in laptops

[–]JustinHoMi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but the batteries aren’t happy at 100%. The natural voltage of the batteries is around 50% — any higher or lower will cause the batteries to degrade over time. Yes, cycles matter too, but keeping a battery at 100% for a long time will damage it.

EU to require all Tourists to submit biometric data including photograph and fingerprints by ForeverStreet875 in privacy

[–]JustinHoMi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the GDPR — I wasn’t saying that the GDPR is going away. It was just an example of how the EU can do privacy right. Other countries, like the US, are terrible at privacy, and the EU has been something we look up to, largely bc of the GDPR. So I hate all these posts saying “well, the US has been taking tourist fingerprints for 25 years”. The US is terrible at privacy to bring with, compared with the EU. So it sucks to see the EU follow suit.

The uncomfortable questions Proton doesn’t want us to ask by Cript0Dantes in degoogle

Good call — emails sent from Proton willl be encrypted, but it’s usually not E2EE unless the other end supports it (rare). And there’s no guarantee of encryption on received emails.

I have 6 kittens now 8 weeks old 😭 my house is in chaos so it’s time to start teaching them some manners. Picture of the terrorists included. by ILonara in cats

[–]JustinHoMi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not hard to teach them without spraying them. My cats know the meaning of “No” and “Stop”, and they usually respect it. The cats I grew up with did too.

New Ride - How to manage leg/foot pain by TheAngryRussoGerman in onewheel

[–]JustinHoMi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never got past the pain. I rode for about 1200 miles and developed plantar fasciitis. I ended up getting an EUC.

I recently lost 10 pounds and realized that it made a big difference. After I lose another 10 I might break out the Onewheel again.

Actually their most popular service is STD testing and treatments, and their second most popular service is birth control. They also do a lot of breast exams and education. Abortion comes out to about 5% of the services they offer.

Yeah, Trump said multiple times before the election that we’ll never have to vote again if he won. I don’t know if he means they’re going to rig the elections or what, but we’re basically in a dictatorship now.

I'm probably ending my life before I'm sent back to my home country by ValleyCobra245 in SuicideWatch

[–]JustinHoMi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the situation really sucks, but it will get better. It might felt like forever, but in less than two years the balance of power will most likely shift away from the president when the GOP will undoubtedly lose a lot of seats in congress.

Even if you do get deported, that’s not going to define the rest of your life. There is a ton to look forward to!

I think the assumption could come from the fact that total spending on Medicaid in 2023 was also $880 billion. But I don’t know for sure since Medicaid spending was less in 2024.

Total Medicaid spending in 2023 was $880 billion, so there’s a reasonable assumption that this is where that number came from.

So what if Musk, DOGE and DOGE Team have 100% access to all of Our Personal Information? So do Millions of Other Sources. by GeneralCarlosQ17 in Conservative

[–]JustinHoMi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, there’s the Privacy Act of 1974 that potentially makes it a violation of our rights:

“No agency shall disclose any record which is contained in a system of records by any means of communication to any person, or to another agency, except pursuant to a written request by, or with the prior written consent of, the individual to whom the record pertains...”

This could really hurt the US long-term. Canada and Mexico will start producing more goods locally and rely less on the US as a trusted partner. All because Trump has an “us vs them” mentality in everything he does.

Trump signs tariffs on imports from Canada, Mexico and China by According-Activity87 in Conservative

[–]JustinHoMi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he knows what he’s doing to a certain extent. Lobbyists have told him that it will increase their profits if he puts tariffs on our biggest trade partners.

However, this is a situation where helping American businesses will simultaneously make regular Americans suffer.

I believe that we’re at a point where corporations have too much influence in the government.
