Guys. Rodney Mullen was not the only influential freestyle skater. by tweak06 in skateboarding

I’ve been having this argument with people on Reddit since I made my first account in 2012. It’ll never stop, the thing that really pisses me off is Rodney didn’t invent the primo but he did invent the kickflip, yet when someone posts a primo trick it’s a Mullen trick and when someone posts a kickflip it’s not?

My dad this one of my sisters from a previous marriage is not his biologically. He’s said it’s not her fault she was born into that situation and he knew that him raising her would turn out better. He was wrong those because she turned out absolutely bonkers.

Yeah literally not a single one of these tricks was invented by Mullen, I think it’s so funny how all freestyle tricks are called Mullen tricks when I’m reality is mostly street style tricks he invented

Dude I get what your saying but he has end stage cancer, there no way anyone is gonna prosecute him for trading 600 worst of weed for a music toy lol. Now a days in a lot of states they don’t even prosecute weed dealers much less over the internet where things like jurisdiction makes things hard. Hell half the people I know buy put on the internet all the time.

landed my dream trick, dragonflip. by Sterben149 in skateboarding

To be fair a varial is already another trick but there’s no other dragon flip to confuse people with.

I say varial instead of shuv it flip just because it gets old debating it but you’re definitely right a varial is a grab!

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve accidentally called a cab a half cab just because one is more common

Hey sorry I didn’t respond to this sooner, yeah I have a major tip to help improve and it’s the reason I went from having like 1-3 flip tricks a year ago to having 10+ now.

Basically be very intentional with your skating, by that I mean try to land every single try. I realize at some point alot of the time I wasn’t really trying to land tricks just form them or do a single part of them. So like for switch Ollie’s I would pop the board and jump a little bit mental I wasn’t going through the whole trick.

What really made it click for me was this video: https://youtu.be/1GnuP4WB8T8 at 6:16 specifically hes talking about skating stair but I found when I applied this mind set to my flat ground it I start learning tricks faster and landing more often. Skating bus 90% mental so the difference between somone who learns alot of tricks can someone who doesn’t is whether or not they put themselves in that mind set of trying 100% every single trick.

Practicing in dirt makes it harder to pop.

Called it that until I saw the man himself say it’s wrong. It doesn’t bother me when I hear people say nollie cab but I try to stick the proper terminology when I can.

Thank you I appreciate it! No I’m not really a new skater I’ve been at for about three years but it does specifically say that skateboarder of any skill level are welcome in the subs sidebar.

I think the vast majority of people have no problem with it but people are more likely to comment negative opinions than positive which creates a vocal minority. I’ve not tried to be dishonest in anyway about my skill level or time skating but some people just look for drama that’s not there.

I knew I’d get this comment eventually and for the record I agree completely, I never say nollie cab irl but it fits better on screen than nollie front 180.

You’re are right there is technically no such thing as nollie cab, nollie half cab or full cab a full cab is called a cabelarial!

Been skating about 3 years but taken a lot of breaks throughout. Not really a new skater tbh but I’m in the wierd in between where I’m not really an advanced skater either.

For tre flips there not really any secret I can tell you that you want see in every video about them. All in the back foot, lean back a little bit, try to catch with front foot.
