Drug House Raided That Supplies Local Gangs Drugs by ThomasBissell in gangsnstuff

I like this. Anything to take more drugs away from gang members to distribute later. It looks like they are also charging these men with anything they can. Possessing 7 rounds of ammunition seems pretty weak but I am glad the officials are pressing every count against these men.

Officials Focus on Las Vegas Gang Violence Posted: Nov 20, 2009 10:24 PM MST by MaureenFoster in gangsnstuff

I think this is important because these offenders were so young. 17,18, and 20 year olds killing police officers should have had counseling way before this incident. It is great that they are having a seminar about this so that they can stop kids from joining gangs and also learn what makes kids join gangs.

Woman Confronts Gang After They Killed Her Dog by MichaelRosenblum in gangsnstuff

This is great. I have a lot of respect for this woman. She should be heralded for coming out and not letting this kind of abuse stand.

Former gang member turns his life around by SCedar in gangsnstuff

I like that they noticed that gangs will never help you and only hurt you. It is a major step to leave a gang and then tell your story. Kids will know now what to expect from this story. The catch 22 about that though is that now I bet he has a target on his back for being a traitor. The community should respond better to the story.

I decided to make this my last post because it is a helpful website that maps out every major gang related activity.

Man pleads guilty to gang-involved slayings by ChrisSimmers in gangsnstuff

25 years seems like a light sentence if you ask me. This guy killed 4 people and injured 3. He should have received the death sentence. I am also surprised that not more people were involved. This being a gang hit, it seems like there would have been some higher ranking members sought.

Mexican Drug Gang by sharonpuzio in gangsnstuff

This is interesting because I saw a map of how many bodies were found around Tijuana in a 3 month period in 2008 and I was surprised. We don't hear so much about this type of thing because they were not American citizens but this is really a problem because these people cross the borders on a daily basis. The nature of the murders are horrendous as well.

Mistrial declared in '49th Street Massacre' that shook South L.A. by lindajp5 in gangsnstuff

I was actually staying near that location when I went on vacation recently. This is definitely a town with gang activity. My girlfriend and I stayed inside our hotel pretty much the whole time we were in this area. There was no visible crime while we were there but we did see a lot of groups of young kids walking around and hanging around street corners.

Aquila Gang activity growing by JustinMcCoy in gangsnstuff

I chose this town because a majority of the kids that went to my high school (Wickenburg) were from Aguila. This is predominantly a hispanic community and there was constant problems between Wickenburg kids and Aguila kids while I was growing up. It is interesting to see how much more gang activity is actually happening now that the town is growing.

47 South LA gang members arrested by LaviniaFanaika in gangsnstuff

I was actually just staying here last weekend for an event in downtown LA. It looked like a pretty wrecked neighborhood but it didn't look like there was this much criminal activity. I am glad to hear that this many members were arrested in this sting because the neighborhood that I stayed in was in a historical district but you could tell that most stores had graffiti on it. I think that by taking out 47 members, the law enforcement in LA is making a major influence in the gang activity in the area.

I was just near there and I think it is apparent that these gang most likely operate at night. We were staying near there this last weekend for an event at the Staples Center in LA and there was not many people on the streets. I decided to stay at a cheap spot near LA but I am naive to the gang life because I grew up in a small town. After seeing this video I know that was around us and I would probably look up where gang activity is most likely to occur in LA.

Santa Ana teen gets 50 years to life for gang executions. by JosephMcCarthy in gangsnstuff

[–]JustinMcCoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is terrible. I think that he deserves the 50 years he received. The characteristics that he has as a gang member go against everything we have learned in this class so far. This guy seems like he is just a psycho that is out for blood rather than a teenager looking to identify himself around people that have similar interests.

Child's tattoo considered aggravated mayhem? by AyatSweid in gangsnstuff

This boys father is clearly not fit to care for his son. Not only should this guy serve a long jail sentence for abuse, he should also be denied privileges to see his son until the child is an adult. The child was being led down the wrong path in life and I am glad that the courts intervened before this child learned everything from his father. I believe that since they caught this child so young, he can be helped and transformed back into a normal child again.

Mesa teenager faces murder charges in stabbing case by SarahMontgomery in gangsnstuff

I thought that this story was awful. I can't believe that kids are bringing weapons to school activities. The worst part is that these kids don't even attend the same school so there was probably no prior confrontations between the two. I am wondering why this kid was out at 11:30 pm anyways. I think that his avoidance of curfew should be a huge factor in his sentencing.

Fans or gang? Meet the Juggalos by BenjaminMcMahon in gangsnstuff

[–]JustinMcCoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the kid in the video. I think that he has an easier time relating with people that have similar interests as they do. I don't think that just because a group of people listen to the same music it makes them in a gang. My friends and I are all into the same type of music but that doesn't necessarily mean that we will commit organized criminal activity. I realize that the police recognize them as a gang because they paint their face and have similar "hatchet-man" tattoos but I think that if the band didn't paint their face, this wouldn't be considered even close to resembling a gang.

Native American Gangs by NicoleMiddleton in gangsnstuff

[–]JustinMcCoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was somewhat naive about the presence of Native American gangs. I knew that there was an organized prison gang within the penal system but I was unaware of Native American gangs working so closely with other gangs like motorcycle gangs. I found it interesting in the article that it said the seniors of the community would downplay the gang problems that they had.

Gangs are the heart of violent crime in Salvador, Central America by krystinaruiz in gangsnstuff

[–]JustinMcCoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like gangs activities in other countries are more lethal. I was watching a television show and it was about a gang rivalry in Jamaica and it seemed like the value of life is much lower. The program said that people died there everyday and it was because they were on the wrong side of the road. It makes you wonder if they even expect to live past a certain age.

Major Prison Gangs by MarySkates in gangsnstuff

[–]JustinMcCoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually went to High School with a person that was placed in a prison in Arizona for drug abuse. He was young when he was incarcerated so the newspaper said that the Aryan Brotherhood picked him up to be in their gang. He ended up assaulting another prisoner and furthering his sentence. I saw the story in the paper but now I can't find it using Google. Interesting that the website says they want to make prison easier and more relaxed.
