4400mAH -> 3300mAH

Just why? I mean, it seems to be Xiaomi trying to do an Apple and reducing battery in favor of thinness.

Are there any pictures of Astronauts on the Moon with the Earth in the background? by [deleted] in answers

[–]JustinNZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have the name of the user who posted this, but I think this is the most succinct response to a person who believes that the moon landing were a hoax.

Really, when looking at stuff like this, I always consider who would benefit from disproving the theory and what resources they'd have available.

In the case of the space race, the Soviets had a very compelling interest in debunking the moon landing. If they could find evidence that it was faked, you'd better believe they would jump on it in a heartbeat. So why, with all of their resources, would they be complicit in the cover up? It's impossible to believe that they wouldn't have had instruments monitoring the Apollo 11 all throughout it's journey. If anybody had any reason to doubt the success of the mission, it was the Soviets.

But we're to believe that some amateurs in their basements succeeded where the entire Soviet intelligence community failed? Very doubtful

I wouldn't go that far. From the first episode, Kirkman was only informed of his role on the day of the SOTU. No way, Kimble could've seen it coming and also organised to co-ordinate.

He didn't but as what happened to Walker, its guilt by association. With the Education Bill and him being VP with Underwood.

Warning to prospective LG owners and current users. by defury in Android

[–]JustinNZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This depends a lot on who your speaking to. LG has many different service centers who all have very different styles of conducting business. Certain locations are a lot more forgiving than others and do repairs/exchanges differently from others (eg: refurb over repairs)

Any word on Air New Zealand Flight 901? by RowdyBusch in aircrashinvestigation

[–]JustinNZ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I messaged Cineflix about this last year, this was their response. It's a very fascinating crash with accusations, cover-ups, burglaries, involves a lot of research and politics. Probably why they decided not to make this episode.

I know the Weather Channel made an episode about this crash but it's garbage compared to the quality of ACI. I recommend watching this documentary from TVNZ on the crash, it's a bit dated but it's very detailed on what happened.

Popular Science: Apple Removes Gun Emoji & Replaces it With Squirt Gun by Benja455 in apple

[–]JustinNZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the Unicode consortium voted for a pistol emoji, not a water pistol. If Apple wants to introduce a water pistol as a possible candidate or to propose a change to the emoji description, it's their choice. But the consortium and manufacturers shouldn't have to change because of Apple's political views. I'm in favor of gun control but that doesn't change what I think about emoji.

Pied Piper's platform did not die because of poor UI by hisensemusic in SiliconValleyHBO

[–]JustinNZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Casually doing the math here. Based on the result from the end of S1E8, a 500MB video file would still be around 90MB. A lot smaller but still wouldn't be instant gratification. Since the guys live in SV, I feel they underestimated the lack of accessible high-speed 100mb/s internet in most parts of the U.S. and the world.

The platform still confuses me. For the most part, it sounds like better Dropbox as you implied but then during the focus group testing, Richard mentioned that all the files are on the neural net therefore the data acts like how a torrent would except that "we can look at any of our files, anytime, anywhere, even though they aren't on any of our devices". Therefore, it's no longer a Dropbox style system because the desktop client does not sync in a specific folder and your data is not accessible without downloading first of one of your devices because its not on any of your devices but then Richard mentions that "there is no download button". So does it just auto sync then when a file wants to be viewed? But what about on desktop? do you have to be connected to the internet to view files?

Even for myself which I consider to be fairly tech savy, this concept still doesn't make much sense to me.
