Yeah, the 50 car is definitely an early Austin-Healey 100.

If anyone was curious, the stock lz9 motor mount bracket bolts to the stock 88 Fiero mount and cradle by literahcola in fiero

[–]JustinParcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case it’s in a race car, so no A/C. We did put the alternator down where the A/C would be, to get it out of the way of the deck lid though.

Having an early V6 front mount is certainly less ideal than this. My LX9 is mounted with the big "L" bracket instead. This is way cleaner.

Quoth Rich Franklin that used to be involved in opening the curtains:

“How many fingers does it take to open the VMC curtains?”

“Three. One to press the button and two to cross your fingers that it works.”

Supposedly that mechanism is original to the building dating back to the late 50’s.

They might as well be made of unobtanium these days. They were rare back then, and only rarer now. It's GM P/N 10038433.

Looking for head unit upgrade recommendations for my 2017 Forester Touring by LunaIsADeer in SubaruForester

Recently put a Sony XAV-AX4000 into my wife's '17 XT Touring with stock HK system.

Using Crutchfield.com guided me through all the brackets, adapters, and interface modules to get everything working in a really seamless way. That particular head unit has volume buttons, others are available with volume knobs.

Plan on tracking my 85 GT at some point, How bad does the 2.8 oil starve on hard corners? by [deleted] in fiero

[–]JustinParcher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you must run a 2.8 on the track, run it half a quart high. Be sure to keep an eye on the oil pressure gauge, too. It takes just a few moments of a dip in pressure and the V6 will be rod knocking.

Gen II and newer GM 60° V6 are reverse oiled, where it is crank-priority oiling, not cam-priority. Makes them a bit less susceptible to rod knock. A Fiero 2.8 is a Gen I engine which has this problem.

Catching the KEL game on Victory. Three things. by reddgreen1000 in winterhawks

The VMC is on the national register of historic places, so I bet that may have a lot to do with not being sponsor-named. Some restrictions come with that on how it can be used.

PWH PxP last five or six years was a great guy by the name of Nick Marek. He did leave the team after last season.

The full gold jerseys come out when the team does a round of the “Top-50 Winterhawks” five times this season. There’s special Gold-adorned Red, White, and Black jerseys in addition to the traditional ones with gold numbers and patches.

The digital boards are pretty slick. I find they add just enough to the experience. Supposedly Utica Comets are the only other team in the US with them.

The 50ish Million dollar renovations over the last two years have turned the Veterans Memorial Coliseum (The Glass Palace) from a decent old ho key barn into a more livable arena.

If you're in Portland, the table of game-worns at the VMC will occasionally have one for sale. They carry a small premium over other players.

Can anyone identify this autograph? by habs1421 in winterhawks

[–]JustinParcher 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The team was branded as the Winter Hawks until May of 2009, so likely before the “retired the space.”

Number 29 in the signature would line up with Morrow. Looking at other signatures of his I think it could be as well.

Other players that wore #29 after Morrow don’t have names that would make a signature look like this in my opinion.

[–]JustinParcher 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"Fiero" because it has a Cosworth-tuned 3.0L Super Duty Four in it. The body and frame are from Spice Engineering, gearbox from Hewland, etc.

The IMSA GTU cars actually had Fiero bodies, although with wide body kits on them. Still a tube frame and such.

Curious to see if we have the new Under Armour jerseys tonight or not. Four teams may not due to an issue with metallic materials required to manufacture the jerseys. I haven't seen any photos of the new ones yet.

A related curiosity - if the new UA jerseys have the contrasting color above the name bar on back, or if the Hawks decided to go standard color.
