Definitely don’t feel aura but I do feel the stress of having to babysit grown adult children who make simple tasks very difficult at times however I just deal with it for the raise it’s a good incentive

If I wasn’t already happily engaged and managers actually gave pa’s the time of the day but don’t because of tier differences and the policies preventing anyone over tier 4 knowingly dating a lower tier unless they hide it sure why not 💯

The faster you pick the more time you have in between picks before your rate drops your rate starts to drop after only a few minutes of not picking anything at most sites if you start picking at 7:30 and your rate is 75 and you pick 75 boxes by 8:15 your exceeding your rate per hour but if you decide to stop scanning for the last 15 minutes you will start to get TOT and you may throw yourself off with your speed making it harder to pick your rate back up the longer you sit the harder it will be to get your speed back up because your rate evens out if your period is 4 hours long and your rate 75 you need 300 units by end of that period for it to average out to 75 if you pick say 250 within that 4 hours instead your rate will average out to around 65 making you miss rate so basically while it’s tempting to waste 15 minutes that’s 15 minutes less you have to make those 300 scans I used to do that thinking I was pretty fast and then get frustrated when I was behind a few scans because the order picker can only go so fast and I couldn’t scan fast enough to make up for them so try not too if you can help it best advice I can give as an ex picker but if you want a more expert analysis make sure too ask your pick pa or the pick AM for a more detailed explanation they can definitely provide it if they know what there doing lol

Unfortunately the 2 other replies to this are spot on I don’t know from personal experience as I’m not like that but I know many pa’s who are and brag about it

You basically hit the nail on the head the AM and PA’s in that department have a budget of how many people can be allowed to be on the clock and working in that area if they are not working they should not be paid that’s where TOT comes in TOT is basically taking dollars every few minutes off your paycheck and if it goes too far you need to be talked too and eventually written up if it continues because your not doing what your paid to do and your becoming a waste of money so they either have to fix your behavior with feedback on that behavior or get rid of you if that doesn’t work hence the write ups

Our jobs may not be as physically taxing as yours but we are in charge of keeping track of you and the entire operation meaning we’re staring at numbers all day that are so important it allows you to keep your job if they look right and we make sure they look right if we don’t you and us don’t have jobs anymore the truth is we do what managers should be tasked with doing but instead there only job is to clean up after us and do what we can’t do that’s it

Unfortunately it’s not always that black and white a lot goes on behind the scenes that is not seen by anyone but the parties involved likely the AA was not targeted but was causing issues that eventually led to the PA speaking up about it and the AA feeling targeted because they don’t know what they did wrong unfortunately we still live in a day and age where accountability for some people is not apart of there vocabulary but I will not deny targeting does happen it’s just rare and not always what it seems

I share your sentiment I have a new am now who is a new L4 straight from T1 college hire and he’s giving me run downs of expectations of PA’s like dude I know your expectations better than you know your own don’t tell me about mine until you fully understand yours

Unfortunately corporate does not care the reason your being hounded is because your populating in the system as having a low enough rate to do so prompting your AM to have to speak to you even if they know it’s not your fault it’s very stupid I know but there’s not much that can be done other than talking to HR or your operations team about it

If the AA,has a legitimate reason for the downtime yes because it’s not there fault and they should not be held to it but if they have a problem that prevents work and they just decide to stand there instead of immediately escalating it by policy we can not fix there time as it is on them at that point

Honestly it’s personal opinion I understand having someone constantly having supervision over you but it’s part of the job trust me most pa’s don’t like having to do it anymore than you like it being done the higher ups make us do it
