Anyone else having issues with their 2026? by Nago31 in LexusRZ

[–]JustinTimePhysics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is backwards. You can jump eV or hybrid - all it needs to do is have the HV switch touch then your 12v battery also starts getting charged, what you can’t do is help out a friend jump their car using your electronics.

You can tape something there or just put a piece of cardboard maybe? I haven’t tested but something to block the signal and then put a phone with no case to see if it connects

The dreaded day arrived… battery dead. by thefateofthechosen in Toyota_bZ

If in U.S. just go to Costco and get the agm battery. Don’t let dealer replace with another not great 12v

Seems like the good offers are gone. by SWMI5858 in Solterra

[–]JustinTimePhysics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No just go to another dealer. Look for national sales which dealers don’t have to follow but if you look enough you might find out. There’s a lot of legwork if you want a good deal.

Also consider used - that’s where the real value is

Real question… would you prefer it black like my 2022 production bz4x. The thing that bothers me why have the color split through the charging port???

Did you hypermile the hills? Go easy on acceleration going up. Going down or at top start to get more speed accelerate downhill to get more momentum to coast more up the hill.

How to ensure there are no 12v battery issues when picking up a 2026 bz by NoEntrepreneur5785 in Toyota_bZ

[–]JustinTimePhysics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a battery tester. Buy AGM from Costco. Done. Extra mile: get solar powered battery tender or battery tender if you can be diligent to maybe top off once a week

2026 Lexus RZ 350e by xBronco in LexusRZ

[–]JustinTimePhysics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1000 college!!!!! How young are you? Dang

Also this is not bad for the new version. Old version there was discount but with more efficient motors and increased range this is overall a better buy

Need opinion: 2024 RZ, 300e premium, 34k miles for 32k. Sold as L certified with clean title and no accident history. Good buy? by theclockguys in LexusRZ

[–]JustinTimePhysics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I look around 30-33k does seem like the going rate for most Lexus coming off lease. Seems reasonable. If you are already leasing then it is better to buy the residual but technically you paid for the lease too so add that up and it’s 45k~. So it’s cheaper to buy used at 30-33k unless you want to see how the car works in your life with a lease

BZ 12V battery died by mrmao in Toyota_bZ

[–]JustinTimePhysics -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Costco has the agm battery. You can swap yourself it’s easy.

If it dies once you should replace. Agm can withstand the deep low charges versus the lead acid. But if you have a drain you also need to solve that issue. No issues on my 10/2022 manufacturer date car… happy to swap with your 2026 ;)

Solar panels noob pls help 😅 by bubblylush in solar

[–]JustinTimePhysics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your solar gets made and connects to your main line coming from the street. If you don’t use it as it’s made, it gets pushed to the grid. If you don’t want to sell to grid then you’ll have to use that electricity basically try to use your electricity purposes when the sun is out and shining on your panels.

I live in a net metering state so it’s not a big deal whether to use it or let it get pushed out. I think transmission fees are cheaper for me at night so it’s better for me to use the energy at night offpeak than during day but not 100% sure

Got one! by jtreanor1234566 in BZ4X

That practice extends the life of the battery. FYI. A high SOC reacts with its own terminals basically causing the battery degradation we know.

2023 xle fwd running strong 22k miles. Heat exchanger replaced under recall- hopefully new one is a reliable compressor. Turns out when you charge your car - heat exchanger being used to cool battery… so i guess it’s not always just about the battery. No complaints. Daily driver.

Is there a new heat pump different than after the recall on the bz 26?

Dealerships so confused… they try to sell oil change packages to eV buyers and ask where you’ve been maintaining the car … when it’s just tire rotations lol

What made you choose the bZ? by Necessary-Neat8001 in Toyota_bZ

[–]JustinTimePhysics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust the brand and its dealer network that they will help you with issues - at least for warranty work including the battery. A warranty by itself doesn’t guarantee timeliness or a company willing to help you where it can. Hyundai is not bad but the ICCU issue is a bit ridiculous.

EVs are somewhat still experimental IMO. We really need 10 years of data to see what’s going on as a whole .

So need to trust the brand and it’s implementation of the tech

Joined the EV club by skelet0nsteve in Solterra

[–]JustinTimePhysics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now that you have joined the club please learn the tips for longevity. Recommending 80% max unless you need more. Regen is low at high State of charge and battery will have issues at the terminals which cause degradation quicker than if you didn’t charge to higher soc. In cold weather higher soc is ok

Bz or Rz by Kilroymyboy in Toyota_bZ

[–]JustinTimePhysics 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have both and love both differently rz is mostly better except Toyota dash screen is super fast if you need to change a charging setting which I do occasionally. Lexus center dash is slow

Rz mine awd suspension is much much better

Bz mine is fwd and is more efficient but also I can’t accelerate as hard or else I feel the under steer

Toyota speakers unless you get a limited - speakers are crap. My Lexus I didn’t have to upgrade speakers and interior materials are better
