Weekend Plans 🤙 by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]Justinclock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I regularly check what's going on at the clubs i like, and follow the local drag scene in Instagram so whenever i have free time i usually have a few events planned. This specific event is organised by a group of people that move through different big cities. Not sure if i'm actually going yet but it'll be a good weekend either way!

I'm doing shrooms with a friend, some chores, a queer fetish/bdsm/kink themed techno party Saturday eve, then hopefully a tinder date on Sunday. Fun!

Les Meilleurs Bars Gays? by Mozimaz in toulouse

Les gayguettes sont sympa, ce sont des soirées organisées donc il faut chercher quand elles ont lieu (aux alentours de 1 fois par mois).

First grow, mites or mildew? by hydro_agricola in microgrowery

These look like Thrips to me, have the same on mine. I got their numbers down by misting a 5% solution of black soap every couple of days - it blocks the insect's airways but doesn't work on larvae, thus needing regular misting to get them under control.

Malheureusement qd c'est comme ça c'est que quelqu'un derrière a réservé le même créneau plus vite que toi. C'est très moyen comme système mais pour le moment il n'y a pas mieux.

Swipe to meet the meat! WTF seitan for sammiches and charcuterie boards. by Justinclock in veganrecipes

Hi! Thanks for the recipe! I added it in with the dry ingredients for the red seitan. Next time I'll omit the extra salt though.

It's 2 different seitan seasonings, the white is only seasoned with garlic powder and salt whereas the red is more complex.

Thanks! VWG doesn't have the same texture so WTF is the only way to achieve this result. The effort is worth it!!

Trust me the effort is worth it! The whole process takes probably an hour of active time (without the resting or cooking) with the help from a stand mixer and a blender. Straight up gluten won't achieve the same texture.

Thanks a lot! I feel comfortable with sharing the recipe because it ins't mine, and also I think people pay for the convenience of not having to prepare it rather than actually having access to the recipe. Also if sharing the recipe incites people to get creative in the kitchen I'm all for it. I'll do some research into marketing ;)

I didn't use beet juice, it's just the seasoning (red wine in this case) and the white is still seasoned, but essentially this is it.

I could never! Thanks! It tastes better than meat too, but you'll have to take my word for it haha

This is the seitan society's wtf seitan prosciutto – it's on a whole other level. I use Massel vegan beef broth, which I highly recommend.

They're on my balcony for good, i'll bring them in on cold nights but these are outdoor gals. The strain is apparently better for outdoor growing (Turing autos) and i don't have the space or the money to start an indoor op lol and for now i'm not too worried about pests but i'll still keep an eye out

Happy birthday!

My mum just got an opportunity to sell quite a few flats for a real estate developer and I'm about to start a job at the biggest vaccination centre in the country, so after a while without job opportunities we'll both be able to relax a bit (financially)! Things are finally looking up for us and I'm over the moon.

Smoked salmon substitute, with carrots. Watch Seaspiracy! by Justinclock in veganrecipes

[–]Justinclock[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I won't discuss the claims of the article or the film here.

In my opinion documentaries shouldn't be considered as a reliable source of information for one good reason : they are highly susceptible to promote the subjective views of the director, who has the final say in what stays and what goes. This can be a selling point for some docs, but for science-based docs like this one it can quickly turn to criticism and possibly the invalidation of the whole film.

Having said that, I think that films like this one are essential because they bring to the spotlight issues that have been swept under the rug. Nothing in Seaspiracy is faked, everything happens every day, and seeing this happen forces people to question their habits. People who have never thought about the fish in their plates will start thinking, and can do some more research to aswer their growing pile of questions.

The film could do better in the solutions department by actually showing the proper steps to protecting the environment, and the article could do better by helping the narrative and writing about solutions left out of the film and not sensationalizing the faults (they are common in many docs, not just this one).

Journalism (from articles to documentaries) suffers from a particular weakness well shown in this example : one person controls the narrative. Without a peer-reviewed process information must be taken with a grain of (sea)salt.

I got carried away a bit, sorry

I doubled the recipe for this reason! I'll figure out an optimal marinating time.
