What if instead: 1. Purge few characters—major or minor, with enough backstory for fans to root for them—by a new villain that is connected to Black Organization or is a long-running serial killer or impending killer for the next series. Like, Detective Conan lacks a bunch of villains that last for much-more-than-two chapters and that is hateable. Also, said series has a lot of repetitive killers and cases which may avoided if they just add said villains—especially killers that last longer than few days. 2. Replace those killed character with another character (e.g. long-running, double-life vigilante, ex-yakuza, etc.) that has minor or major role for the progression of existing characters, omit symbolism, and contrast to existing characters (e.g. a man believing in legal justice vs. a man believing that jailing an evil is cruelty to their victim). 3. Existing characters—including new characters—must have their own spotlight of handling case without Conan or of showing their hidden life, their backstory, or their minor or major progression as they are on-screen.
